Zemeckis never had a definitive visual reference for Beowulf. Tintin's look, on the other hand, has already been established.
It's like when they do live action versions of cartoons/comics even though the character originally is simplisticly drawn. Tintin probably won't have the tiny dot eyes or extreme cowlick as he's drawn, but he'll look somewhat photoreal to an extent. I'm just curious as to how he's going to look, as if they plan on going the hyperreal Beowulf route or the Monster House route.
