The All Encompassing AQUAMAN Movie Thread

Everyone makes fun of Aquaman, so how can a serious Aquaman movie be made if no one takes him seriously?

I think as long as the filmmakers make the attempt to take the material seriously, then the audience wold be open-minded enough to follow suit.

I'm sure there's enough sufficient material from the comics that can be used to do a more straight faced adaption of Aquaman, since there's obviously more to him as a character than communicating with sea life.

The man is a king. A noble. He's master of over 70 percent of the Earth's territory. That's easily the most dense kingdom on the globe. If handled well, they could infuse foes like Black Manta and Ocean Master, the moral dilemma of Arthur being born both from an Atlantean and a Human...

Yeah, I think there's enough of a foundation to do justice to an Aquaman motion picture.

Yes. In fact, you could make a serious AQUAMAN movie and still poke fun at the sillier elements of his lore. And make the siller elements serious at the same time. The comics have been doing it for years.

It's just a matter of time.

The real question is...which sea-going character could better handle a motion picture.

Aquaman or Namor?

Yes. Why not? I think it could be epic.

They make movies about a huge gorilla, about animals that talk, about mythological creatures (Clash of Titans), and about a flying man who wears his underwear on the outside.

Aquaman or Namor?

I know next to nothing about Namor and I'm much more of a DC guy so I'm going with Aquaman :oldrazz:

How else is anything going to be taken seriously? You put out an effort that changes the audience's perception.

What, you think Batman was always the cool bad-ass superhero that everyone loves? Less than 10 years ago he was the biggest joke and the shameful face of this genre, thanks to his films. Now look. He's up for the damn Oscars. :funny:

It's certainly interesting.

BC on the one had you've got Aquaman, which would mean a live action Black Manta, Ocean Master, maybe Aqualad.

But Namor means a live action Krang and Atuma...I guess it all depends on the supporting universe that surrounds the character.

I'd side with Aquaman as well, personally.

I'd actually have to go with Namor, since the question is who'd make a better movie. Moviegoing audiences don't like straight-up heroes. Moviegoers like edgy, darker characters. Namor's definitely a lot darker and more morally ambiguous than Aquaman.

Yeah that's true. I didn't think about that.

Sub-Mariner: The Depths would make an awesome Namor movie, and really set it apart from the rest of the Superhero genre.

Personally, I think bothe Aquaman, and Namor, could make excellent movies.

I wish Aquaman can become a live action movie someday when its released in theatres. Justin Hartley who played Aquaman on the first pilot movie was un-aired to be released on CW since he started his role playing Green Arrow.

I want to know what are we going to do on with this superhero in the DC Universe to be lined up from Warner Bros to be released in theatres.

1. I think there is a thread for this already so this might get moved
2. I'm sorry but I hate that cast. The only good one up there is Hugh Laurie

I'm glad Joss Whedon isn't involved with Wonder Woman anymore. He's good with female heroes if HE creates them. If it's someone else's creation, he tries to recreate them as his own and turns them into crap.

That's the worst cast I've seen in a long time. I thought fans of Aquaman wanted him taken seriously.

For real Ferret for real. I haven't seen an awful cast like this one before. Even the good cast members (Laurie) doesn't even fit the part he's assigned.

Yea their was already a aquaman thread from a few months back. I too wish it could happen but like flash and ww aquaman will probably still be many years from happening.

Merged, and i hate that entire cast.

sweet merciful poseidon! that was a terrible cast. but chris evans or anyone would be better than matthew "hold on lemme take mah shirt off before this scene" mcconaughey. if there's a god it will keep mcconaughey from acting in any more movies...

Aaron Eckhart is probably too good an actor to hope for for Aquaman, unfortunately.

To be honest, I don't see an Aquaman movie happening until after he appears in a possible JLA movie. I think he is a cool character, however I can't imagine the general public seeing Orin beyond his Super Friends incarnation at this time. So sad!!
