man there are a few really annoying glitches.. i was just doing a deadlock mission and the last thug literally froze.. i could walk right up to him he couldnt do anything, and i couldn't finish the mission, i thought i was gonna have to restart, but i thought maybe if i shake him out of place, so i used the ionic blast and it worked.. Then when i started the game, literally a min in, and peter got stuck in a spaztic looping animation stuck to a car.. but the game is really fun, just wish it was more polished..

Ya some hardcore polish would have REALLY helped this game.

If beenox does do another spider-man game, I sincerely hope they just dedicate it to the new generation, and build a new engine and system to accommodate it. the power of next gen could provide us with a spider-masterpiece, even if it takes another few games to get right, but first they need to get the basic fundamentals right, which they are having REAL problems with.

Wow I already fell into a glitch, the forever fall.
That glitch never ends?

This looks Amazing

Fixed ;)

Hell is not pleasant, it's the ultimate torture. So everyone; please stop using it to compliment something, or say you really don't like it

It doesn't come out for Australians on steam until the 8th of May :( Very annoying as I bought it on steam! Can't they just send the data my way!

loved the movie, hating what I have seen so far from the game... the web rush dynamics are still akward as hell, as is the combat animations, and the new web swinging dynamic (thou cool on paper) just looks like a half-backed gimmick which we would've been better off without

I usually feel the urge to play any new Spider-man game just because i'm that much of a fan, but wth Beenox? they seem like they care as much about Spider-man as the fans do, and story-wise they show for that passion, but if there's no real production value then what's the point

Also beenox has no idea how to make a city shine at night haha. Oh yea yellow squares everywhere.

I just popped in spider-man 2 and the city at NIGHT is Great compared to asm2. The lighting colors and interior varies from building to building, there's tons of detail and variation in the windows. It makes the city feel so alive and beautiful.

And boy do I miss the manual web yank and web lasso. Makes combat so much more fun to properly involve your webbing exactly the way you want. Your web shooters are truly at your disposal in SM2.

Edit: OH MY GOD I forgot about being able to web an enemy and CARRY him up with you AS you web swing in SM2... My god so epic! Swooping into a crime scene, shooting a web at an enemy and picking him up, Swiping him right off the streets. You could carry these bad guys around with you as play things! Hahha. But it made combat so epic. You could Come into battle with a missile kick too while swinging in web.

Hell, I'm playing SM 2 again now instead, **** ASM2 lol. I want to be spider-man.

Yeah i was replaying SM2 and WoS leading up to this games release. I was initially excited for ASM2 but reading what everyone has posted and watching the twitch plays, I've talked myself out of it. Beenox really needs to be removed from this license and let someone else with sandbox games experience give it a go.

SM2 is still the perfect Spider-man experience. I wouldn't even mind just an HD version of that. This isn't nostalgia talking. I've said it for years, but people who say the swinging hasn't aged probably just aren't very good at it. It took skill to master but once you got it, really got it, New York literally was your playground.

The fighting was also the most Spider-Man like we've ever seen with maybe the exception of Web of Shadows red costume combos.

My perfect Spider-man game would be swinging, city scale, spider-sense, combos, and side missions from SM2 mixed with the parkour, building fighting and aerial fighting of WoS.

Beenox has had their shot and, in my opinion, haven't lived up to what treyarch did ten years ago.

I've been playing 4 hours now. This game really feels a lot clunkier and rougher around the edges. Or maybe I haven't played ASM in a while, and it's just exactly the same. Most of the time the game simply feels more like work, than fun. Especially when it comes to the combat. It's still nowhere near as fluid, effective or satisfying as Arkham's combat. Not even remotely close.

So the general consensus of the game is...? Good, bad, ugly?

So far 3 in this thread like it, one doesn't
And in the gaming forums thread there is a guy not so big on Marvel, and enjoying it at the time

I have to say that I'd recommend it. I've been playing it a bit here and there since yesterday and think it's pretty good.

it's good, not great

I'm having fun with it, but it's clearly rough around the edges. Not worth full price, but I paid $40 on Steam and got the black costume so I'm happy!

Okay, bordering on mediocre. It does some nice things, but all those nice things are held back by the clunky controls. When it comes to combat that allows you to move fluidly between enemies, this doesn't even touch Ultimate Spider-Man. And most of the time I feel like I have to focus too much on the Spider-sense, instead of the fun of combat, because in the middle of combat, using the spider-sense counter is next to impossible.

So instead of being a carefree Spider-Man, I have to constantly be careful not to be engaged in combat, because someone could sucker punch me from behind. Web-slinging makes me go smack at the sides of buildings most of the time, but I'll give the game a chance in this regard, and try if I can't improve my web-slinging.

Also, random crimes seem to be way too frequent. Which weren't an issue, if I'd actually enjoy the combat and web-slinging.

Anyone playing it on PS4 or PC?

It's good but not great, playable for fans and people enjoying Spider-Man I'd assume. But it lacks quality overall. The story is bad IMO, feels really really cheap (like some GameBoy story, lacks epicness etc. and looks rough). The gameplay is okay, the overall content simply lacks quality (side-missions loading screen + lacking variety and a few side-missions are go from point a to b carrying something like a bomb or an injured citizen).

They should've delayed the release for another year and work on what they have and it could've been AAA Arkham quality (mainly variety and fine-tuning the gameplay + better story).

That's the main issue with movie tie-ins--the time restriction. It's an unavoidable measure that cannot be controlled and it directly reflects the quality of a game.

So far, I'm glad I didn't pay full price. Even Spidey fans should wait for a price drop.

That's what I am doing. Probably not gonna pick this up until Black Friday when the game should be around $20 or so.

I have an old graphics card, so I can't set it to the max. But I'd obviously say PS4. Aren't the versions identical? With the PS4 only having sharper textures and higher resolution?

How are the visuals? More like the PS4 port or the PS3 port?

Depends on your settings. I posted a screenshot of me playing it earlier:

That's 1920x1080, high textures, v-sync, motion blur, 4x / medium AA, very low lighting and shadow, maxed city density and draw distance.
From what I've seen it looks better than the PS4 version, it also runs at a buttersmooth 60fps.
I could go higher but without v-sync only (and I assume that causes screen tearing).

All versions are identical though, only difference is that PS3 is probably low visuals, PS4 medium and PC looks best if maxed out.

Yeah, sometimes different colors
It is why I ask

Looks good
Sky web yoyo? Or is there a suspended part of a building you hanged him from?

OK, so frustration is slowly setting in. I don't even care about the random crimes anymore. Seriously, if I get offered the chance to rip someone apart like in Web of Shadows, I'm doing it.

That bit will never happen
You can't throw people from atop of buildings in the previous game, something Ultimate Spider-Man offered

I'm surprised people aren't just renting it instead of paying full price. You'll likely have plenty of time to beat it AND you'll be giving Activision less money.

This game is more than meets the eye. It's not worth full price because technically this is what the first game should have been. I think they deliberately made Web rush like it was in the first game on purpose(chains weren't continous) and same goes for the swing system. They knew cloud swinging wasn't ok.

I was testing out the sideways wall run and it's pretty cool but it's not very fluid all the time. The intent was there but Beenox needs to work on more fluid movement.

I do like swinging around but more control is still necessary. I got it for 40 bucks and it came with the tickets so it wasn't a waste but in hindsight I could have waited till the drop. I wasn't sure if the gamestop suits were going to be offered without the pre-order.
