Homecoming The Amazing Spider-Man 3 General Discussion - Part 1

Agreed, and I know its been discussed to death, probably one of the worst advertising/marketing campaigns. Nothing good comes from giving away the entire film. I mean they showed the final shot and everything that would have been a surprise in trailers etc. I truly feel that the reaction and response to this movie would have been much more positive had we had NO clue about a Goblin and or Rhino in the film.

Webb said he wanted to keep gwen death and the goblin a secret but oddly it become a big marketing thing where they had to tease her death in every trailer and tv spot

But From what I hear the director has very little say on marketing

Somehow they felt marketing her death like a big event and teasing the sinister 6 would drive this film to make a billion which doesn't really work that way, or at least I don't think it does, it's very forced marketing

Their marketing didn't help the movie at all. It's the lowest grossing Spider-Man movie yet lol.

The way they have ruined all the villains so far it would not be a surprise if Otto was just an Oscorp henchman.

I would have to dig deep for it, but I saw an interview where even Emma Stone voiced her opinion on the marketing, stating she would prefer major plot points to be a total surprise rather than having Sony showing even glimpses of them in the trailers.

There was no need to show anything TDOGS or Goblin related during trailers

The Godzilla sequel now has a release date of June 8th, 2018. I think it's looking more and more likely TASM3 is gonna get a release date sometime in April. My guess is April 13th, 2018.

Agreed.

The whole time watching Harry in the film I couldn't help but think, "I wonder how he's going to turn into Goblin..."

Yeah instead it should have been oh crap he is now the goblin when it happened in the movie.

Agreed.

If they hadn't shown so much, they would have had me guessing from beginning to end. "Are they gonna do it? Are they not?"

Even with all of the foreshadowing, I honestly wouldn't have been 100% sure either way and I think that it would have made the movie even more enjoyable by not really knowing what was around the corner.

So... on the subject of The Amazing Spider-Man 3, what do you think the main plot will be?

THe Sinister Six sent after Spidey to get his magic blood. They succeed. Give the magic blood to Norman. He becomes the super Goblin for the last 5 minutes of the movie. The end.

Spider-Man himself doesn't grow as a character or learn to take responsibility for his actions because everything bad that happens to him isn't his fault... again.

All I want is for Peter to grow as a character and learn from his mistakes and interact and have chemistry with every other character like MJ, aunt may, jjjj, Betty brant, Ned Leeds, Robbie Robertson, randy Robertson, Norah winters, and if they had so e few minutes of screen time I want the daily bugle staff to have some personality because I feel that we haven't got that in the raimi films. I want Peter to care more about his aunt and uncle. Yeah his parents can still be important to the story such as clearing their names but that doesn't mean may and ben should be ignored. I want Marc Webb to have some creative freedom because with the uncut versions I think his films wouldve been the best spiderman run in the media since Greg Weisman and would've been better than Raimi's spiderman 2. I also want some great writers like Vince Gilligan or drew Goddard to write the script

I want um.... I want them to hire a crew that's passionate about Spidey, so Drew Goddard (who seems to know his stuff) should direct and write.

After Marc Webb I would looooooooove for drew Goddard to write for TASM 4.

Also there were interviews stating that Marc Webb wanted to use KRAVEN and mysterio and with how he handles his characters in the uncut version he would totally do the characters justice more realistically and more threatening and with mysterio it would feel more like art. But since they might not be in under webb's hand with the sinister six I just wonder how his third movie will be like

I'd like Webb to just not.

I agree that electro was **** but I think his Harry was originally a well written character and the lizard seemed like a great character from Webb and with how KRAVEN and mysterio are Webb seems like a great fit for them if he has creative freedom

These guys aren't getting any freedom. Sony wants, Sony gets. They don't care if Spider-Man suffers, they just want to reproduce the idea of a cinematic universe.

Marvel can do it, because they have plenty of characters.
Fox aren't trying.
WB/DC can do it, they have all of their characters.
Sony... Sony cannot do it, because they have Spider-Man... that's it. The only way they could do it is if they made movies about alternate Spideys like Noir or 2099... but no, they want a female spin-off, Venom and Sinister Six.

Well let's hope they give Webb freedom because if they don't let Goddard and Webb and whoever is behind the new female spin-off have control they're ****ed.no one would ever see another spiderman film from them again. They were nearly ****ed with how TASM 2 performed because of their meddling. If they wanted to keep the rights then the smart thing to do is to let creators do what they want instead of just dicking around with them

Yeah instead it should have been oh crap he is now the goblin when it happened in the movie.

Exactly, my friend.

So... on the subject of The Amazing Spider-Man 3, what do you think the main plot will be?

Don't know what it will be specifically, but here are a few things off the top of my head that I want:

- Peter struggling to accept Gwen's death.
- More references to Ben, compared to Peter's father.
- Closure for Peter's parents in this series. Seriously, Ben is responsible for Peter's transition into using his powers responsibly; so either he should get a little more credit, or Peter's parents should get little to no screen time this time around.
- Possibly reverting to the darker tone of TASM1, considering there has been one of the most pivotal deaths in Peter's life (along with Ben's) and comic book history in general. Also, a sinister group of villains as his main enemy calls for a darker tone by default.
- MJ trying to provide comfort for Peter.
- MJ's role by default demands more involvement from May.
- JJJ and The Daily Bugle.

Hmm..I don't know what to say about the villains or Oscorp, quite frankly, as most of that depends on S6. Nevertheless, those are a few things which I might add on to later that I want to see in TASM3, regardless of S6.

Don't know if this has been discussing but an interesting idea.

Disney is trying to buy WB.

It's highly likely that will never happen. WB isn't going bankrupt or doing poorly.

But what if Disney goes after Sony and buys Sony? Spidey's rights are with them which means they get them plus Sony.

Hmm, I don't think Disney could buy out any company totally? Surely not?

they bought off marvel and star wars. there was even this rumor that disney bought funimation and i would totally be on board with that because i think funimation works best with marvel. but disney buying WB is just ridiculously insane. as if i'd believe it. though i do see them buying Sony. but i really don't want spiderman in the avengers. i'd like him in the MCU sure but only as a solo hero

No, there's speculation that Disney might be a potential buyer, but they've made no moves to acquire WB. In fact, many analyst think such a deal clashes with their current business model.

The consensus is that while there are obvious synergies, it goes against Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger's strategy for growing the company, which has been through acquisitions of powerful singular brands such as Pixar and Marvel. "Never," analyst Nathanson said. "Bob's strategy has been to target specialized content."

A company doesn't have to be in bad shape to be an attractive acquisition target.

I don't think Disney is interested in getting into the electronics business, but Sony Pictures might be attractive to the mouse.

If Disney buys WB, then the world is over. WB holds Harry Potter.
