Garfield brought in new fans? hmm I wonder why his films aren't doing better?

I'm sure he has. But the problem is it has been a net loss. It isn't all Garfield's fault (he isn't even primarily to blame, IMO), but it is a fact that fewer tickets are sold to Spider-Man films now than they were before the reboot.

That fact is way more significant than any anectdotal evidence from individual internet posts and posters' friends and relatives.

The last thing i have to say is on this matter:
I freaking love TASM2, thats right i said it, come at me bro XD

I should add that the reason we don't think general audiences will lose any sleep over Garfield being recast, is that we have lived through this sort of thing many, many times. Anytime some big series is getting ready to recast its lead (ex. James Bond, Batman, etc.) the fans always get up in arms like they are now with Garfield. It isn't even the first time with this series. And practically every single time, the new guy (unless he sucks) is accepted. He might not necessarily be as popular as the old guy in all cases, but the audience understands and is fine with it.

It is only in the rare case that a character and actor are so intrinsically linked, that recasting becomes impossible. Like trying to do a Rocky Balboa reboot without Stallone, or something like that.

So again, the reason we feel sure about this is because we have seen this exact process play out lots over the decades.

Thankyou for clearing that up Andrew.

I'm 30 and I don't fantasize about Clooney.

You have point

But a negative effect will most likely exist, even it's a quick one.
