ugh... I recognize the ugly art pf Steve Skroce ANYWHERE... I consider him as one of the two worst Spidey artists ever... I railed on his art back then and I was so glad when he moved on...

I know this will surprise you, THUNDER, but I liked Skroce's work. :oldrazz:

I mean, he's not among my top top artists, but he is far from my least favorite. And, I won't even ask you who your most hated artist is, since I probably know who...

One artist I never cared for was Humberto Ramos.

I think the art looks good! I have thing for these 90s looking art. I like what I see.

It's 425.

ASM#425 maybe?

I have issues #422 and #425, so I will go check them out again later. This artwork looks like its from one of those issues, or at least some spidey comic from the 90s.
Thanks guys. I may have to get that arc now just because. It's like a 3-issue arc, right Picard? Or 4?

You know, I'm actually not too sure about that. I only have issues 422 and 425 of that arc and haven't read them fully, only looked for certain elements that inspired the movie. I'll do some research on it soon and get back to you. :)

The Electro story was 422, 423 and 425. There was this whole other thing going on at the time with the Rose, Delilah and ninjas that Electro tied into somehow. It all started with 421 and I think might have even stretched into the 3 issues after 425, which was the Doc Ock resurrection story.

Cool, thanks for the info!

The entire mess was building towards the debut of Black Tarantula and Spider-Hunt.

I appreciate those comics for adding more depth to Electro's character, but IDK about the rest.

Anybody know which issue this is from?

It's the Rebirt of Electro story that ran just after the Clone Saga ended.
I always felt that Skroce was trying to emulate 'Ringo's art

As I said earlier, I think the art is alright, but there is something… generic about it. IDK if I'm using the right word to describe it.

I just finished volume 3. I'm a little confused about the Crime-Master's death. He said that when they check his bank vault, they'll find out the secret identity of the Green Goblin, but he dies in the end of the story and this isn't touched upon. Was he lying when he told the Goblin that his bank has the secret identity of the Goblin?

Volume 3?
Of?
Essential Spider-Man? or something else?
I thought Norman was Outed in Volume 2...

I don't know, it was just Spider-Man comics put in volumes. Each one is about 10 issues.

he's probably talking about the softcover Masterworks maybe...

Nick Lewis was probably bluffing Osborn when he threatened him with exposure with evidence that he was the Goblin, when in actuality he had no REAL definitive proof of it, other than his word against Osborn's......

though in an Untold Tales issue, Osborn faked out Lewis by removing his Goblin mask only to have a mask of J. Jonah Jameson over his own true face... so Lewis was under the false belief that Jonah was the Goblin...

so if anyone was going to get any grief for any 'evidence' of the Goblin's identity, it would have been Jonah... but that just never happened in an Amazing issue or an Untold Tales issue...

The Marvel Masterworks books have 10 issues of Spider-Man per volume, so that would be it. I have to go back to that story to check it out.

Can anyone help me out? What trades are worth a buy, between Brand New Day and Origin of Species? I'm trying to form a decent Trade run of Spider-man, and this is the toughest area since they were triple shipping the book.
Some people have just said to skip right to Dan Slotts run. Is this advised?

I honestly stopped reading Spider-Man comic books regularly after One More Day, so I can't help you there. I had checked out a few "Brand New Day" issues, and it was alright, but nothing that had me jumping up and down. Don't know about "origin of species."

The Dan Slott story arcs are very good though, so you might consider something like "Spider-Island." Otherwise I say go back to the classics and start with Amazing Fantasy #15 and work your way up from TASM issue 1.

I already have. I've read up to Kravens last hunt, and have collected materials up to JMS's run, creating a decent reading list. Just not sure what post Brand New Day stuff actually important to continuity/good.

I have also purchased Dan Slott's Ultimate Big time collections 1 and 2. So my gap is Brand New Day, and Big Time Collection 1.

But the Goblin's speech/thought bubbles indicated that he thought Lewis knew his true secret identity, not a fake one, unless Gobby actually thought he was Jonah.

you've got it wrong... it was NORMAN who was wearing two masks, first the Jonah mask and then the Goblin mask over THAT... both Lewis and Osborn had revealed each other's identities to one another, but Osborn was being super-careful about his own identity, thereby the use of the Jonah mask... so Lewis didn't really know the Goblin's true identity, while the Goblin knew who the CrimeMaster really was... Lewis only believed what he saw in the Goblin being Jonah... as to whether Lewis had any 'evidence' in a safety deposit box is probably doubtful, because if he DID have it, the police would have arrested Jonah, which is something that never happened in Amazing OR Untold Tales...

I'm going on pure memory for all of this, but I'm sure I've got it all right... as to the thought and word balloons and what was thought and spoken, THAT I'd have to go back and look at... but that's pretty much how all that went down with the CrimeMaster and the Goblin...

the Goblin plans for any and all eventualities... the CrimeMaster didn't...

Well, Goblin was attacking Crime-Master, and then stopped after CM told him about his bank account, and Goblin stopped and thought 'I can't kill him or my identity will be revealed' or something similar, which wouldn't make sense if he thought Crime Master thought he wasn't Norman.
