I see I haven't missed much with all the talk of the origin again. I for one am excited to see a new spin on the origin. All I say is, don't get your panties in a twist too much until the films released.

Great interview with Marc Webb though. I love how he talks about the 3D.

I was finally sold on this movie after seeing the third trailer but I come here and people are saying that Spidy gets his powers before he gets bitten? Or at least the bite activates his powers so only he could possibly be Spider-Man and the randomness is gone?

On top of that and the worst thing of them all is that Peter becomes Spidey BEFORE Uncle Ben's murder? **** that!

God please, somehow get the rights back Marvel pleeease. Buy them if you have to!

I don't care if Peter fights acne, it's the fact that he's doing it as Spider-Man, the original origin is so much more effective. This new origin seems more comicy than the actual comic from the 60's origin.

He just decides to fight crime? At least in the comic he had motivation and a legit reason for that ridiculous outfit that became his symbol.

Yes because the writers will be different, the producer will be Kevin Fiege and a movie property will be taken a helluva lot more seriously than a animation.

Oh and the fact he will be apart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and can be the heart of possible crossover films like Civil War or the Secret Wars because at the end of the day Spidey is the GA favourite and him in the MCU would just be incredible for story purposes. And as we know Marvel does their movies right.

It doesn't have to be a wrestling gig, it could even be a skate boarding competition or better yet a MMA fight for cash, anything, though still that wouldn't justify the costume but he didn't exactly have the full costume in raimi's spiderman either.

Um, color me lost but where exactly did it hint anywhere that Peter was experimented upon by his parents? As another orphan lost along the way, albeit similarly adopted, my biological parents are a very important alternate reality in my life and finding the truth about why I am really here, who I really am, and everything. You guys got handed a road map for the most part and as an orphan who loses that? That kind of sucks. And we are haunted by all of these questions that you guys already have answered and take for granted.

So why is Peter 'haunted' by the truth about what happened to his parents? Most of us who lost our parents early on ARE haunted by it. And the rest really seems to play into the whole corporate governmental conspiracy plot line, not of a father who experimented on his son. Just from a really grounded level of a ghost practically following you around. There are tons of ghosts in these situations that you have to overcome and live with.

Plus AS I SAID BEFORE -- Uncle Ben's death will hit home for him, especially now more than ever. Lose one set of parents? You're an orphan. Lose both sets? Now that's my GREATEST fear. I can't go through that again. I'd risk ANYTHING to make sure it doesn't happen again. It would be a thousand times worse. I can't even say goodbye to teachers easily, not because I particularly like them - but because it's beyond hard for me to lose anyone whereas for a lot of other people that wouldn't be such a big problem. So losing another parent? Yeah. Basically saying Uncle Ben's death will carry A LOT more weight now than in the past.



Um, no, not at all. My adoptive parents are awesome parents. Everyone I know likes my parents. And yet, if I could? I would still be beyond interesting in knowing who my biological parents are. Not because of my adoptive parents. But for me. Because you can have two sets of parents and care about them just as equally. Why is it people can understanding not having a favorite son or daughter, but not understand how this can be for having sets of parents?

So I have no doubt they're going to get the adoptive parents importance down as well. It may be slightly different from biological parents. I don't know. I never had that. I'm jealous a lot of you reading this probably do have that. But, that doesn't change how I look up to my adoptive parents. And it doesn't sound like Peter looks down or feel all that distanced from May or Ben either. Just grounded in the truths of the matter.

Yeah and that's what makes Spidey great in the MCU, he's the underdog everybody roots for, just like the comics.

That proves it, definitely Norman Osborn. If he was David Lowell, a random Oscorp employee, why would it have to be a mystery?

In the '89 one the Joker was Bruce's parents' killer. In BB it was indeed a random thug... but oh no wait it was actually Ra's al Ghul and the League of Shadows testing their new weapon, the "economy"...

How are these changes different from what Webb's doing here with Spidey? As long as they serve a purpose and make sense, frankly I don't give a damn.

Money isn't an issue? Are you serious? That's like making Tony Stark broke in Iron Man, financial issues have always been Parkers character! Gives me more of a reason to dislike this film now.

I don't even know where this has come from. Someone wanted to have a moan about the reboot and pulled this out of their arseor something. I've seen nothing to back this up at all.

Bingo. Not only are they overreacting, but they're taking our guesses and rumors and assumptions as fact, making them even more upset. He's still the same guy. Oh and Marvel STILL has something to do with this movie. I don't know why people think that because Sony is making it that marvel has no say on anything. Besides the fact that Marc Webb just said marvel gave him rules on what had to be in the movie and what he could and couldn't do, Kevin Feige is an executive producer on the film and said a few months ago that he was very hands on with this movie, including the story.

If you are bullied and tormented, then super human abilities are given to you what would you do ? Peter clearly gains an ego complex after gaining his abilities. He obviously realises no one can stop him. He obviously goes around fighting criminals for the sense of empowerment.

I will post this again because I feel some of you are missing the point of the origins lesson.

What I have recently thought though, is the clip where Spider-Man is trash-talking the car thief, could be more significant then previously assumed. As we see in the clip, Spider-Man is wise-cracking the car thief, in a very abusive way. What we haven't seen, is the police officer who later arrives. In the trailer, it shows the officer taking a shot at Spidey point blank. Now my theory is because Spider-Man was doing that to the car thief, the police officer who arrives, probably thinks the car thief is the victim, rather than the criminal. This would fit nicely in with why George Stacy and the police force are after Spidey. The car thief would not be found guilty, so he was not charged for anything and is let go. Instead Spider-Man is seen as the enemy.

Now, bear with me because this is the part that get's interesting. In a recent article posted on this website, someone had figured out that the car thief is the guy who goes onto potentially kill Uncle Ben.

What I also know is that, when Peter confronts Flash at the school, Uncle Ben is called in to talk to the principal. Peter's actions cause Uncle Ben to change his shift to a later time in the evening, at the local store where he works. Now what I believe will happen, is that same car thief will end up shooting Uncle Ben because of Peter's irresponsible behaviour. Not only was it his fault for being irresponsible, when apprehending the car thief as Spider-Man but he will also be responsible for changing his uncle's shift time because of his scuffle with Flash, as Peter Parker.

This in my view, would be a fresh new way in telling Spider-Man's origin, whilst retaining the fundamentals that makes Spider-Man, Spider-Man. Why he becomes Spider-man before Uncle Ben's death is still a mystery, so we will have to wait and see, where they go with that. Right now though this is how I believe the responsibility part of the story will be told.

The fundamental lesson is learned and in essence, he is a kid before becoming a man. When I was a teenager, I had a real attitude, especially at the age of sixteen. Most of the time I would end up having a fight with someone and at one point my parents would not allow me to leave the house because they were worried, I would either end up seriously hurting someone or they would end up hurting me. After a year of this I realised how foolish I had been and completely grew out of that phase. I wasn't forced to stop but I decided to. My point is, Peter is most likely going through a similar phase. He realises he is stronger than everyone else and enjoys being powerful. What will force him to contemplate his attitude and decisions will be the death of his uncle.

I personally wouldn't mind if they changed the origin to this. It would feel far more grounded and relatable. I think at one point in our lives, we have all been responsible for disobeying our parents. This time though, for Peter, it is a grave mistake. His Uncle is killed and he learns the hard way, pushing him to become a man and accept his responsibilities. This I personally feel would be a great new route to take, whilst retaining the fundamentals of the Spider-Man origin story.

The end result is the same. Yes it is not the same way as the original origin was told but it doesn't need to be. This is a new take on the character. A great example of this is a show called Sherlock on the BBC in England. It's about Sherlock Holmes but is set in a modern day setting. There are changes to his character because of this but the core of his personality and what makes the Sherlock Holmes character is till intact. Changes, if done properly can actually be a good thing. Judging from the critical acclaim the show has been getting, I would say that change can actually do wonders for the characters.
