For argument's sake, he was only "stunned" (from the taser and his fall) long enough for the police to surround him and cuff him. At that point, he's got several guns pointed at his head - there isn't much that he can do then; he's fast but he can't dodge several automatic rifles at point blank range. It's when the mask is pulled and their defenses are down that he sees his opening to move.

But they are still trained on him. I would bet he reacts because he has no choice. He had nothing to lose at that point. He was desperate. Just a guess.

If you all seriously thought that this movie would have little to no unmasking then your naive. Garfield is handsome...and you can't emote in a mask. Some of you also said that's why you are supportive of a humanoid lizard...so he can emote.

he waited for the guy to get close enuff for him to hit him and create a diversion, plus what chaseter said.. maybe he planned on being a little more civil until he took his mask off then he went in to fight or flight mode.. who knows.. watch the movie first.. you guys read in to to much lol

Am I the only one worried about his hair?

I mean his mane is Huge, the mask is skin thight,In reality his hair would be plastered all over his face when he when he wears the mask

Certainly.

I don't think anyone is complaining that there are unmaskings again; in fact, people seem to be thinking that the unmaskings make more sense and are more organic to the story this time around.

Lol, yeah. I agree about the hair thing. He has this tight mask on in the bridge scene, removes it... and his hair is still perfectly styled. Mine gets messy if I put my damn hood up, never mind anything else. :funny:

They cant make his Spider-Sense so strong that he dodges everything, that would make things boring

As for reacting after being unmasked, its stupid but I guess he thought '**** just got real' It would be disastrous if he is recognized

Anyway,I dont care,Its is followed by a great action sequence
People in here were just arguing how Venom hitting Spidey to make his mask come off is implausible. Well it's implausible for Spider-Man to be stunned by cops and handcuffed with a spider sense. I do however agree that it's a sort of over powering power that would make things less interesting if he's invulnerable. Same thing can be said about Venom hitting Peter with a bar and his mask coming off for us to see how it affected him.

These are the type of dumb arguments that make people in other forums refer to this forum as a haven for crazy people.

he gets paid the same whether they show his face or not. Hugo Weaving didn't take a pay cut for V. I'm not sure what your point is but suggesting they take the mask off for $$$ reasons is silly.

I was trying to say, while both actors in the role do seem to remove their masks about the same amount of times in their respective films (in Garfield's case, maybe even more so), they seem to have written legitimate reasons in the story for this film for him to remove it or have it removed by someone else (i.e. -- like when he removes the mask to avoid frightening a boy he's trying to save from a dangling, burning car).

Whereas, in the Raimi films, he seemed to take it off just because.

You're right. The "showing his face for money" part was pretty presumptuous on my part. I was just trying make a case for the "removing masks to show face" argument, but didn't think it through enough and ended up coming across as an ignoramus.

When my hair's messy I put on a hat then take it off to neaten it up :p

Not to mention when the mask is on, his hair seems to perfectly take shape of the mask.

Mind you, that seems to be the case with all superheroes that wear skin-tight masks.

Eh, that's nitpicking imo. If his hair would be a big mess, people would complain that he looks ridiculous instead.

The answer to why his hair is perfectly fine...

he's Spider-Man.

At least in the Ultimate comics, the excess of hair in Peter's head made his head all round when he used the mask (post Ultimatum events).

Sorry, but I don't get this issue...it's not like people's hair is made out of lumpy rocks. If someone is wearing a skin tight mask, of course the hair is going to go flat against the head and look smooth, especially if their hair is short.

OH YES IM BACK ON SWEET JESUS.

Guys I was still on here reading EVERYTHING.

Ill recap what I saw and thought.

OSCORP MUTAGEN- Horrifying and scary, yet tragic.

New Promo Pics of Gwen and Peter- Great they look good.

4Minute Trailer- BLEW MY MIND IN 2 BITS, Brilliant and inspirational.

2 weeks then RIM will tell us how the movie went, CANT WAIT.

Seems like his hair doesn't get messed up very easily. It looks about the same in real life as it does in the movie after wearing a mask.
