It's like Smallville. The very first episode, Clark has a skateboard, but then following the pilot...different backpack, no skateboard. It's as if they are trying to hit some demo with that, but then they just toss the whole skateboard shtick away.

Poor Pete. Seems like his responsibility is hindering his performance. Too bad for him that he couldn't beat her to that top spot. :P

Except TASM 1 was an entire film.

He stuck with the same style for the entire film. It's clear that they're trying to make him seem more mature now through the wardrobe choices for this film. He also has a DSLR as opposed to a vintage camera. So it's possible that he either has a job now or something.

I'm shocked that you're complaining about them trying to progress Peter's character.

EDIT: Also, at least they're trying to make things progress fluidly. Having Peter wear the backpack from the first film is a small touch, but it shows that they're not just suddenly starting with this brand new Peter.

Pilots are always different to the second episode.

The most ridiculous example is in New Girl, where the pilot introduces a main character, Coach, a character that doesn't appear anywhere else except that episode. He was substituted by a completely different character that fills in his place. Without any explanation.
Also, Coach was the best character from the pilot :(

I'm not complaining. I hated the whole skateboard idea from the first film, lol. But I still view it as a shtick. Peter's clothing improved and even his hair style has if you ask me. I find those good things, but I still think when a skateboard is brought in, it's just some gimmick as they tried with Clark in the pilot for Smallville.

I thought it was mentioned that Coach left before Winston came back to the states as he was playing basketball overseas?

They mentioned Coach left in New Girl and he was has been mentioned on the show a couple times. The actor left because his other tv show got picked up.

Fair enough. lol

I never hated the skateboard thing. I'm on a forum posting about a comic book movie a year before it's release. I'm a nerd, pretty well a loner and I've been skateboarding almost as long as I've been bicycling. I have no problem with them using it as his preferred form of transportation. And now that he has web slinging to replace that... well I suppose it makes sense that his board is shoved under his bed.

Yeah, they established that. After 8 or so episodes, as I remember lol

With Happy Endings being cancelled, Coach could pop up again...

I agree. I found it very good taste that an outcast teenager in 2012 would skateboard. I don't think it hurts the perennial core of his character, nor does it enhance it.

By the way, even if Shailene Woodley has finished her scenes, shouldn't she be at the graduation?

I was also wondering about that but in her scenes with Peter (when it appears they first meet up) she & Peter are wearing clothes that suggest that it's Fall, so maybe they meet up months later?

Yeah, I have a feeling they meet up after graduation. Or else she's not in their school.

That makes a lot of sense
