The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Spider-Man General Discussion & Speculation Thread - - - Part 12

The Dark Knight is pretty dang near perfect for a CBM, but not a movie overall. I would actually agree with your friend though with that it's not better than Batman Begins. TDK may be a near perfect CBM, but Batman Begins did something that no other Batman movie did....explore Bruce Wayne. That is probably the only reason BB is superior to TDK on some levels.

Although, I can see why people would hate on The Amazing Spider-Man. As opposed to what GENERAL RAAM582 said, it's different to hate on something that has been out like TDK and Avengers, but TAS-M isn't out yet, so people will obviously complain to the elements they do not like until they finally see it. Then, of course people could still hate just to hate, but the smart fans that didn't like certain things may grow to like when they watch the film finally. My example would be X-Men: First Class when people didn't like the sound of certain ideas of even the mutants themselves until the movie actually came out and now little people hate the ideas of that film and now hope for a sequel.

Yeah that's something he and I both had issues with, that Bruce Wayne played the background, that his genius is never really put in the spotlight and that in the dark knight, he functions more as a Gov./city defense contractor instead of the world's greatest detective. I agree with you that it's damn near perfect BUT again, I'm not going to scream at someone who doesn't agree and he definitely doesn't think it's perfect. And obviously, him being a two face fan, he didn't like how he got dealt with while I didn't have an issue with it, I saw why he'd have complaints.

I think what you and the good general are speaking about is what I call fanboy mentality, which is just hating on something without seeing it and thinking they know how great or how bad something will be just on the strength of what they read or whether they even want to dislike it. X-Men First Class is a perfect example because when as a MOVIE fan, not a comic book fan but a fan of film, if I hear Matthew Vaughn directing, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy as the two leads and good actors and actresses to fill out the rest of the cast along with a cool 60s setting, I'm excited for that. Fanboys reacted the way they did because it's just something they assumed would be bad because of the studio behind it and because the internet is full of followers and sycophants, so going against the grain will get you in trouble

I have yet to see First Class. It's a prequel to X-Men 1 right? Or is it a reboot to the series?

I knew it messed up X-Men 3: TLS, cause Magneto and Xavier wouldn't be together after the accident. Origins is getting a sequel. And Deadpool might get a movie too.

It's a prequel, but it has some major continuity errors. I don't know if they desided to do that for the sake of more possibilities with the story, or that they didn't care to check the earlier movies for that

also the mere presence of emma frost in first class throws it off against origins

and i do believe during one of the xmen films, could be origins or x2 where they show hank mccoy on tv, as his human self which goes against first class

I think it's safe to assume they discard a lot the older movies and just wanted to do their own thing. The best way to think about it is if First Class and the first three x-men flicks, along with whatever sequels from that, are in two separate universes

oh i know, i just notice these things

Loved first class, favourite of the xmen movies

You guys are really getting me excited. lol

So everyone wants Spidey to be in The Avengers, wasn't he only in The New Avengers?

Yeah, but that's enough for him to be in The Avengers. I've said this before, if Marvel would own the movie rights for Spidey, he would be in The Avengers

He's in the avengers now though..I mean the actual unit, there really doesn't seem to be a separation anymore

FOOTAGE DESCRIPTION

• A longer version of the scene between Peter and Gwen was shown, and as I said a few months back, they have great chemistry. Emma Stone's take on the character is far more likeable than the somewhat aloof version in the early Stan Lee stories, and is much different to Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3) and the various high school girls that Stone has portrayed in the likes of and Easy A.

• It's hard to find fault with Andrew Garfield's take on Peter Parker, and while he comes across as a bumbling Clark Kent type in this scene, he's extremely endearing. Peter skipping away (don't worry, not in a cringe inducing fashion, a la the dance scenes in Sam Raimi's last film) after Gwen agrees to go out with him was great.

• There was also some lengthier shots of the Lizard, giving us a slightly better look at his appearance. While the face has looked a little off in some of the recent footage we've seen, and while I can't help but think that giving him the snout would have been a much better look, it's hard to complain too much when we haven't actually seen a proper shot of him talking, etc.

• The other new snippets included Spider-Man swinging through the city, and they really did look fantastic. It was hard to tell whether or not these were comprised of special or practical effects, but it appears to be far more seamless a transition than in the past three films. We also saw Peter showing off his powers as he skateboards through the city, as well as a handful of extended scenes between Spidey and the mugger he webs up, and Peter and Doctor Connors. I also noticed that the weapon Captain Stacy and the NYPD take him down with appears to be some sort of electrical charge.

• Perhaps most impressive was an extended version of the scene in which Spider-Man swings around the top of the building seen in the trailers and kicks the Lizard. This time we saw the actual swing leading up to that, and it made me jump a little in my seat. Why? Well, it turns out that the 3D is even better than you may have hoped...

• In the most recent trailer, it became clear that a fair few of the scenes were specifically catered for 3D. For example, the scene in the trailer which sees Spidey's feet appear to come out of the screen as we're given a birds eye view of him swinging through the city. Amazingly (pun intended), this works like a charm and rather than being a gimmick, seemingly will be there to enhance the overall experience.

• The brief snippets of POV footage didn't feature a lot of depth, but I expect that to be a different case altogether when they're shown in full on the big screen. The 3D effects are spectacular however, and shooting The Amazing Spider-Man in this format has proven to be a wise choice from what I saw today. July 4th can't get here soon enough.

Wait, skipping away? Like literally skipping?
The rest of the description sounds great though

Says it wasn't in a cheesy way, so I'm thinking a small hop on his step as he's going.

It just sounds like he's giddy that he got a date with Gwen. It sounds fun. :yay:
Maybe I'm just picturing it wrong. For some reason I just imagined Andrew Garfield awkwardly doing enthusiastic high skips in the opposite direction of Gwen until he is out of the shot. It is probably just one small hop like Symbiote said.

Well, people do that in real life. Heck, I did that myself after a girl agreed to go out with me :D after the girl was out of site of course...

Heh, lets just say, I don;t think it'll looks like this:
