Not a good look Spidey. Oh well his last posters were among the best of any movie coming out this year so this gets a pass.

C'mon, ASM.

Take GI Joe's spot.

You'll get the July 4th weekend.

Sony can now move ASM to June 29th if they wanted to. If they wanted to.

And yes, the delay is crazy.

I don't see that happening. The July 4th weekend is a huge ticket sales BO draw and they'd be better off keeping that spot than to give it up only for a few extra days.

As others have said, that would be pretty much Electro. Plus, there is a difference between Shocker and Electro. Shocker uses vibrations, not really electricity. I could see Shocker being some sort of muscle for another villain, but to turn him into a TDKR version of Bane may be too much to succeed.

I said electricity but I meant to say tremors. But my point still stands, if Shocker were to have his powers given to him thru some sort of natural means he could be a greater foe to Spidey. I still don't think he's on the same level as Bane though.

Has this been posted yet?

EW are just awful when they showcase the CBMs. Avengers, TDKR and now this...the pictures have just been awful.

The gauntlets are what makes Shocker so interesting though, imo. He's a regular thug that has ammunition that can beat Spider-Man at times.

July 4th weekend starts on Friday June 29th.

For villains I like to see in sequels

ASM 2 - Electro and if they go with another villain either Mysterio or Vulture

ASM 3 - Green Goblin and the Enforcers

I'd prefer more classic villains first before any symbiotes. Maybe if they make more movies afterwards. If so and they bring the black suit, I don't think they should try to cram it all into just one movie. I've come across various people saying Venom should be in the sequel when in order to even do him properly, Peter first has to get the black suit, discover it's evil and get rid of it. And also introduce Eddie Brock and develop his hatred for Spider-man. Spider-man 3 tried doing it all in one movie and failed miserably. Although that was more on the case of them having so many unnecessary stuff.

Can the symbiote/Venom be done in one movie? Possibly. But you'll still probably end up with another case of Venom only having about ten minutes of screentime where Spidey beats him. If they're gonna go with the symbiote again, they should try something different. Have Brock get it at the end setting up Venom for the next one. It gives him more to do and can probably be used to his full potential. There also needs be a supervillain for Spidey to fight while wearing the black suit. Unless people just wanna go 3/4's of the movie with no viable threat for him to fight. The final battle can have him almost killing the villain, but stops himself from doing so, and the police show up to arrest the villain.

I think it's less about the story having too much unnecessary stuff and more about the fact that Venom was crammed into the story like a child forcing the square block into the round hole.

It was a Sandman/Goblin II story with Venom tagged on, never a Venom movie to begin with.

Had it been imagined as a Venom movie since day 1 I think Raimi could have pulled it off.

This. The symbiote should be done over at least 2 movies. Perhaps they could shoot them back-to-back? Spidey would get the black suit in the first and he would wear it for most of the movie, but he eventually gets rid of it. Of course Eddie Brock would find it, setting up the sequel.

This would give Venom an ENTIRE movie to torment Peter. Imagine what they could do with that. Not only that, but there would also be an entire movie (perhaps more than 1 if they introduce him in previous movies) to flesh out the entire Peter-Eddie Brock relationship. Why does Eddie hate him soooo much that he wants to kill Peter? Just losing his job won't cut it, imo. Give him a real reason. With all that time, I'm sure the writers would find something good.

Oh well, I wouldn't do the symbiotes until after the first trilogy anyway, so perhaps for ASM4 and ASM 5 :woot:

Agreed. You hit the nail.
I've discussed about it many times before.
Raimi lost too much time with a pointless love triangle, messing with a relationship that established itself by the end of the second movie, instead of moving forward with it, cooking, poetry reading, singing, a stupid and senseless retcon of Ben's murder, dancing and other things that escape my mind.

A cartoon did the Venom saga, within 70 minutes, splendidly better than the movie did in over 2 hours, and it had 3 villains (Rhino, Shocker and Venom), without mentioning Spidey getting the symbiote before that, slowly changing into something he isn't and even having a subplot with Promethium X involved, Kingpin and Smythe. Add to that Brock's development and Venom stalking Spidey and making his life a hell.

A cartoon did that. One would think they'd try harder when making a movie. The symbiote and Venom can work in a movie, but it must be done with intelligence and care, which Spider-Man 3 was not.

The problem with a lot of these films are they don't know how to use villains correctly. Nolan, Singer and Vaughn have shown how to do it right.

Everyone cries when their favorite villain serves a purpose as opposed to being some glorious master villain. The truth is there are not many villains unique or strong enough to carry a film on their own.

What we need are more Scarecrow like situations. Norman has to be the overarching threat, with the secondary villains being used correctly.

I wonder if Madame Webb will ever make an appearance on the silver screen? I vaguely remember her from the 90's toon. It's on netflix so I think I shall watch it again.

Yeah, no madame web, no clones, no time travel, no alternate universes..nothing. Keep it simple. Not everything in comics is meant to be translated to film.

Nevermind guys. Just checked the official site. The date was only changed to June 29th in The Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Sorry guys, I ****ed up on that one. The article mentioned the US and North America so I assumed they meant it'd be released here earlier too.

It's ok. I thought it meant that too because it says, "That’s a five-day margin ahead of the film’s original release date in Manila, US and North America which was supposedly July 4."

It's funny in the 90's toon his first villain is the lizard. Been strolling down memory lane on netflix. That theme song is awful haha don't remember it being that bad when I was a Kidd
