I read somewhere today that this New York City may be taken from [Prototype] but with a new paint job. If this is true, what are your thoughts?
Only Times Square, hardly anything from the trailers remind me of the city in [PROTOTYPE]

[Prototype] had a pretty good New York City, but kinda glad they've only taken Times Square....I'm really hoping this game is a return to awesome for Spider-Man games. I still set up my Gamecube to enjoy Ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2.

this game may very well be the best tie-in movie game ever

the last 2 trailers - Rhino & Iguana - have been excellent

I still wish they ported SM2 to PC
Sad thing is we won't have ASM to PC it appears, I'm a PC gamer more than a PS3

I played that SM2 PC game....that was pretty damn bad.
Personally I play my games on 360, but with a game like Spider-Man I would buy it on PS3 if they use the sixaxis controller to allow you do make Spider-man preform stunts and "tricks" while web swinging.

That might be a good thing in the long run, probably why they were able to have more interior levels. Also, by using an already created city they can spend resources on more important things like web swinging, combat, boss battles etc. If this game is successful and they make a sequel, they should definitely work on building their own New York though. I think that's what Batman did; for AA they used the environment from Bioshock, and for AC they created their own world. I could be wrong, but I remember reading that on some forum.

I always thought the New York in Web of Shadows was used from Prototype. Anyone else?

That's simple. They didn't want to 'blow their wad' so to speak. Start off small and then build up to something big and powerful.
Silly them.
Wasn't VGA on television? That was their moment to show their product and blow people away, but it turned a lot of them down.

VGA had a lot of amazing trailers and Spidey's was probably the weakest. Since it was being broadcasted, they couldn't have the mentality of starting off small. Not there.

I thought it was alright for a children game, but it's the reason I wish the good Spider-Man 2 game was ported to PC

I know I don't see myself playing a Spidey game with analogs as placed as they are on the XBOX game pad

Fair point

Ugh, no to sixaxis, but I would love it if you could use the Move motion controller for the web-swinging. That was actually really fun on the Wii.

if this has been posted already my apologies

A Glimpse Of The Amazing Spider-Man’s Combat

March 14, 2012 . 9:00amA new trailer and information on the game’s combat give us a little more insight into Beenox’s next Spider-Man game.

Amazing Spider-Man Borrows from Arkham City
This fighting system seems familiar, and that's awesome.
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Most video game previews& reviews sites have been saying they've taken inspiration From the Arkham games.

The mechanical web shooters are back. There will be opportunities to upgrade your shooters throughout the games. At first you can simply hit thugs with webbing. Later it becomes more powerful and you can web parts of them to walls, etc. You won't have to worry about running out of web cartridges. In your belt, you'll have extra ones and there's a little animation showing you quickly reloading when necessary. The decision was made to have you contain the extra cartridges and not have to walk around and randomly discover ones lying around the environment. That always pulls you out of the game and just never makes sense.

I love this. It's just a tiny detail, but it tells you how much thought they put into this. Makes me worry less about the bigger decisions they might have done.

Yeah that was a great article, it gives you allot of details, thanks for posting it dude!:awesome::up: I'm most likely gonna just freeroam the first few days to avoid spoiling the movie but it'll just give me time to practice the rush lol.:o:oldrazz::D:up:

That's fine. Prototype had a good NYC, but here's the thing. I don't understand why the reviewer on IGN was making the comparison of Prototype's NYC to TASM's NYC and making a derogatory comment, "it's just Prototype with a new paint job." Duh! You F_cking Moron!! It's NYC! It's not like it's a new original design of a landscape. NYC is NYC.

Yet another in-depth look at the game:

Looks like stealth has officially been confirmed!

Stealth was officially confirmed in the Xbox article last week.

excellent news! that takes care of one of my major concerns with this game

I know SD and EoT especially, are not considered 'great' games but if you've ever really played them, you'd notice all the effort Beenox put into the little details in those games. That's one of the reasons I am very much behind Beenox on this one, they love Spidey and it shows.

Agreed, Wouldn't bother me at all if it's just Prototype's city with a new paint job. Especially if it saves them time, so they can focus on more important things.

I know right. I won't be swinging around saying "oh man this NYC looks just like the NYC in Prototype...fail."

FFFFF UUUUUUU, IGN!

I agree completely and for the record, I enjoyed both games, SD being the better of the two gameplay wise, but the attention to detail was apparent for those of us that looked hard enough and those little details are one of the things I personally look for.:awesome::up:

I think I'll play RE2 now, cause I love seeing them reload their guns, and this piece reminded me of that

True

That dude from IGN is an idiot, I didn't really see any problem with Prototype's depiction of NYC, if anything, for as big as that city was ingame, it sure had alot going on at once. TBH in the Spider-Man games, the developers always captured the look of NYC from an architecture standpoint, but they kinda missed the mark when it came to the actual life of the city. NYC is a very, very, very populated area and quite noisy if I may add, something that was not really present in the other games. As of right now, Beenox looks to be hitting all the right points and delivering something that may actually be worth the 60 bucks. 2 years of production time is good chunk of time to put into a game, and it shows in these videos we've been getting, I may be going a little too far, but I hope this game gets at least an 8.5, but oh well what the hell. If all else fails, I'll still get the game, hell, I still own Captain America: Super Soldier, and I still enjoy that to this day despite the reviews

Go this far, and I hope with you
Impressing trailer should lead to an impressing product

I don't see why that game had bad reviews, it's more fun than X-Men Origins: Wolverine, only issue is general animation is kinda slow

I won't say that one is better than the other, both games were basically running on the framework of 2 different more successful games, but all in all they were good attempts and the 2 instances where a movie tie in was somewhat satisfying.

X-Men Origin's Wolverine - God of War clone

Captain America: Super Soldier - Arkham Asylum clone
