Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions - Part 1

I just recently watched a few episodes of Spider-Man on MTV with NPH voicing it...he is so awful on that show, but his voice is so much better in Shattered Dimensions.
It sounds really fake and low on the show.

It helps that a talented voice director like Jamie Thomason was working on this game. He also worked on Clerks, The Spectacular-Spider-Man, and Young Justice.

On another note: THREAD MANAGER! :cmad:

I'm terrible late but I just got this game yesterday, absolutely love it!

I like his performance there, don't know why the fuss. That show had NPH as the second Spidey voice actor only to make the muffled voice

Game was pretty fun, but the story was almost painful to sit through sometimes, haha. Also really miss the fun of open-world web-slinging. Glad I played through it, but also glad I borrowed it from a friend rather than buy it.

The story was pretty weak, and I found a lot of the levels repetitive. The wall crawling was a nightmare some times. Still it's the best Spidey game we've gotten since Spider-Man 2.

After the major let down that is Web of Shadows, I decided to take my time and watch full walkthroughs of this one to judge instead of watching a sample of gameplay, purchase the game, play it not knowing what to expect. What I think after watching much walkthrough

Gameplay:
.Every Spider-Man has different combat moves, pressing the same buttons, but different combat moves
.Differences in gameplay:

  • Amazing is plain exposed and fighting normally
  • Ultimate has the power of the symbiote
  • NOIR depends a lot on stealth, which is awesome
  • 2099 uses free fall plenty of times

.General gameplay in the 11 stages between the first and the last; "move, fight, move, fight, go to the boss, fight, move, fight chronies, move, fight boss again" until you get the fragment
.It's basically a "Beat 'Em Up", with saving some people here and there, that's a plus. People you save help you, that's another plus
.Electro mission in USM universe reminds me why I don't want to watch the Tron Legacy, all the bright lines moving in dark backgrounds, it's a bug
.Web-Zip is directed and precise, that's a handy feature to stop wasting time

Audio:
-Voice acting is spot on, it may be the only thing that makes the game worth watching again and again. I wish Electro called Spider-Man "Butt Head" as homage to Biff Tannin from Back to the Future movie series
-Jokes are fun, especially USM jokes, they make the game more fun to watch, sadly not fun enough to play
-Music is nice for the most part

Story:
Nothing to make one think since Webb guides players and directs them to what's the next step so often
Same pattern repeated over and over
Nice to have Mysterio the big bad in a more serious game
Unlike that previous abomination of 2008, characters aren't disrespected, that's a plus

Technical difficulties:
Like every Activision game I played so far, it suffers from camera issues, but not something to fret about, I can look past that

Rewatching value:
Worth it a lot, I watched the videos a few times and they're still nice to watch, nothing lost. Not worth replaying for reasons other than working to find tricks in the game to make it more fun, or finding all the collectibles

General Grade (as stated, based on a viewer perspective):
7/10. Needs a lot of shaping up before going near Spider-Man 2 in fun quality

Lemme get this straight: You've just reviewed a game straight from gameplay videos?

Rewatching value? Why not try playing it instead

I love this response:woot:

a) I'm tired of constant "Beat 'Em Ups", that pattern shouldn't be there for a PS3 game cause it got too old, and makes gameplay way too repetitive
b) I stated the regular pattern of every stage between the first and the last, it gets tiresome

i can't believe someone actually wasted time in there life WATCHING through a whole game....

Not only that, he reviewed a game for us, that we've all already played, that came out 6 months ago, without actually playing it himself.

It's impossible to review a game you haven't actually played. This is not a movie.

Wait, are you implying that you could review a movie you haven't seen?

You can't review a game like a movie. A game is much more involving than watching some videos of it on Youtube.

Heck yeah, I do it all the time. I'm doing it RIGHT now!

The Dark Knight Rises 10/10

Awesomesauce.

Thor: 9/10

Awesomekraut.

Easy!

I'm calling it right now: Dark Knight Rises is horribles! Nolan teh sux!!1!:hehe:

Oh my god, this is fun! 'Transformers 3 - 0/9' Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!

How dare you bash teh transformers! Micheal Bay is the best director ever{well, if you're Armond White, that is}.

....Part of me thinks Transformers 3 looks good... And I thought 2 was awful.

I'm a sucker I guess. :(

TF3 looks cool, but TF2 had a cool teaser too so...:csad:

Wait, are you implying that you could review a movie you haven't seen?

he means you can't review a game by just watching it... (like you watch a movie) because a video game is a GAME, not a MOVIE. it'd be like reviewing a movie when all you hear is the sound no picture. You miss an integral part of the art.
