The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game - Part 4

There was 4 different and unique Spidermen. Overall I thought they all had decent characterizations and lines. Again, maybe things will change for me bc I am early but Pete so far is a bit on the bland side
Regular Spider-Man was in that game the blandest he ever was in any adaption

Not the biggest issue, but one I felt I needed to comment on

I dont recall saying he shoulldnt have that. I did mention utilizing the double jump to get that effect

You keep breaking it down per character
Cause it needs to be noted
but the fact is there were 12 costumes in SD.
12 extra costumes beside the default 4
24-28 in EoT an guess what? Thats more than 11 per 1 Spider-man.
And several of those were imported from SD. I don't really know if the Noir and Ultimate costumes were imported to EoT since I played SD on PC
Really its not the quantity thats the issue but the quality.. Most of the ones in ASM arent even good adaptations as those from the books and the more popular classic ones arent included. The FF one? Ugh, doesnt even have the right color scheme.
They did it right for ASM game, and you kept mentioning quantity
In one of the Future Foundation (I think) issues Spider-Man wore the costume in those colors
If you think the selection in ASM is better than SD or EoT, than good for you, but I prefer what the past set
I was defending quantity of costumes
And for making a more thorough game if they need to add only the amount of costumes they added then they did fine

One review said the city feels lifeless and I can see that.

I've seen this comment in a review before and it is ridiculous. There is more 'life' in the city in ASM than previous Spidey titles. The current gen systems can only handle a certain amount of detail before it will start to lag out with framerate issues and screen tearing when you have a main character in the game like Spidey with his mobility. He can swing up to speeds of 160 mph and go in excess of 500 mph during web rush according to an interview with Dee Brown. I'd rather the developer render less people/cars/buses etc. on the streets and have a glitchless experience swinging around the city, changing direction at will that is seemless and fluid.

And they were still pretty significant

So? Whats the issue? Bc they were in a previous game, they shouldnt be counted or considered?

No I dont. You are the one that started breaking down the numbers

In one of the Future Foundation (I think) issues Spider-Man wore the costume in those colors
In one issue? ....its still not THE costume he wears 99% of the time with the group, which makes this choice even odder. Like why didnt they just go with the actual one he always wears?

you didnt need to as that was never the main issue

THANK. YOU
And for that, you shall have..

A Gold Star

Ew

Getting rid of the cartoon visuals, dropping double jump and bringing the camera in close are the best thing Beenox has done yet. They need to take more cues from the Arkham titles, not less.

If i had to see one more stupid explosion of light during a combo in SD/EoT, i was gonna break my disk in half. Luckily for me, the game(s) ended and i never had to go back to them.

I completely agree with you on the bolded part. I also hated the cartoony flashes of light during combat and I'm glad they did away with that crap too. It didn't ruin the experience for me as much as it seemed to do with you though...I still found the game enjoyable for the most part.

Don't count them for being made for a game they weren't made for

No I dont. You are the one that started breaking down the numbers
I mentioned number of costumes per character, but still didn't start it. Look at the quote I replied to starting this debate
Lack of costumes. Beenox went above and beyond before to provide a TON of costumes from the books and its a shame thats not the case here.
You mention lack of quantity of costumes as a con

So? That Secret War costume the gave ASM in SD? I checked the story just to see the costume, he never wore it there. Secret War, the one by Bendis with photoreal art, it's not even there
So adding a costume that I've actually seen in a comic but appeared just once is a good touch, at least it can be seen in a comic

Fine, take those 8 away, you still have at least 16 different looks in the game. I dont think the fact that they werent new should really matter. Would it have been better had they not been included at all?

and I specifically clarified that by saying "from the books". To the best of my knowledge, there's only 3 he's worn from the books and they arent even the more popular ones. The rest are rather generic creations Id have been more satisified if it were just 6 total with those including some of the more popular ones like Ben Reilly, Iron Spider, Black Suit (the comic one, not that Raimi rendition), etc....

Probably didnt look hard enough bc SD gave descriptions of where the costumes could be found, and yes that costume was exactly where they said it was

How the hell can Spidey move that fast? He's not Superman. I think someone misspoke.

I agree with you tho, this city is no more lifeless than past free roam spidey titles. I mean its no GTA but its better than SM3 or WoS.

I agree with Havok on the costumes tho. I was super disappointed in the selection of alts.

Am i also late to the party in realizing that Nolan North plays Smythe. I knew he sounded familiar. Damn that guy is in 90% of the games i own.

As fun as ASM is, it certainly isn't above criticism, I definitely think that is worth noting. The 'lifeless' comment I think is fair enough because it's not just the streets, the whole world feels lifeless. The side missions feel like empty, repetitive activities that feel completely detached from the rest of the city. There is a city wide contamination and disaster and it never once felt like it.

I'm hoping Beenox really strives to improve the open
World experience for the next game

Yea id agree with that, but can you name one open world superhero title that didn't feel like that? I can only think of one, being the inFamous series. Previous SM titles were just as stale

Am I the only one that doesn't really give two hoots about extra costumes?

OK
And to answer that question, I don't care as much as others do about extra costumes, if it's a movie tie-in

LOL...one of the first things I noticed was oh great, Nathan Drake is in THIS game too...lol

you explained it alot better than I did, but yeah I completely agree with this

I look at the game this way... Is it perfect? No, it's not. However its the first steps in the right direction. I really look forward to the next game Beenox does.. Hopefully an open 616 game.

I doubt it. ASM2 comes out in 2 years and Beenox will most likely be doing a movie tie in for that. If they do get one next year, it could be their smaller team that worked on EoT while the main guys are working on ASM2. Not sure how people would feel about that

I've honestly never played EoT.
I just did. I dont think it deserved quite the hate it did, but for the most part it seemed to get slammed by most. I thought it was a competent game, albeit with flaws, but still decent enough. Some of the complaints were that it felt rushed, seemed scaled back from SD, took place in one building, and thefact that its since been revealed that the bulk of the Beenox team was working on ASM instead of it, seems to have accounted for some of these issues

One thing I forgot to mention but this is so much better than that craptastic last movie tie in we got with Spiderman 3 and that is so apparent in the missions. SM3 had alot of indoor missions and they were all awful. I dreaded going indoors in that game yet the bulk of the missions in ASM are indoors yet Beenox made it work. Its actually fun especially how the stealth is handled and swinging and getting around inside the buildings actually works. Never felt the camera was too much of a burden not did the gameplay feel flawed which Im glad didnt become a major hinderance as it has in the past.

Yea I think that's exactly what's gonna happen.

I beg to differ. Watch the video below starting at 17:40
