The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game - Part 1

this game now has the odds COMPLETELY stacked against it. Developer who has proven to be mediocre? Check. Publisher who cares nothing about the license they hold? Check.
Moronic publisher?
Movie tie in? Check.
There are plenty of bad games based on no movies nor comics, I wouldn't place movie tie-in as an important reason for fail
Now add giant robots to that list and i really dont see how this game can be anything other than a disappointment. Time will tell.
Clones?

Well thats because you just dont know nearly enough about the video games industry. Movie tie in's are NOTORIOUS for being poorly developed games. It is a FACT that most movie based games get shafted in terms of dev time and artistic freedom that comes with other non license tie ins.

In fact, hasn't the best Spider-Man game been a movie tie-in? If anything, that's the one thing that makes me a bit more optimistic. :o

Oh I'm not saying good movie tie ins can't happen, I'm saying they usually dont. Spider-Man 2 being one of the exceptions on a VERY short list. Movie based tie ins generally have a shorter dev time, smaller budget and almost no artistic freedom that would allow the dev studio to craft a better story/game overall.

I dont know why i even have to defend that point, i mean this should all be common knowledge to anyone who plays games.

I know about time of development and stuff, but seriously, there are games worse than SOME bad movie tie-ins

There are three (two to some) great games based on comics directly, no movie connection; PS1 games and USM

Oh no, I agree with you. In the grand scheme of things movie tie-ins are generally ****. I was just saying that in the Spider-Man world it's the one time that a movie tie-in could be a good thing.

Well yea, and the amount of non movie based games FAR outweighs the ones that are based on some license. The majority of movie based titles tend to be poorly made games though. Period.

Why is he swinging from a web near nothing to connect a webline to @0:46? He took lessons from Superman or something? :lmao:

Nothing to debate here,

On that we agree

I actually don't think the trailer was that bad.

And all this fear of robots... Did anyone actually LISTEN to the trailer? To why the robots were bring brought in? To help fend off the recent slate of 'biological attacks'. That could really mean any number of things.

To be honest, as underwhelming as robot minions can be, that huge boss looked epic and I'm not interested in the concept for a new free roam spidey for the minions I'll beat up, I'm interested in the FREE ROAM.

What I don't get, is we get one teaser trailer and a conceptual image of Spidey fighting robots and everyone is like "Wow, this is awesome, this could finally be THE Spidey game, awwwww man!" and then we get a longer trailer with the same thing, Spidey fighting robots, and suddenly it's terrible?

Sorry guys but. y'all are damn fickle.

I think the last shot of the first teaser had people a little concerned. No one wants to deal with giant robots when they could be fighting one of spideys classic villains. Hell even a D list villain is better than a robot. Beenox is batting 0 for 2, so theres reason for people to not be that excited after the first public footage we have seen ends up looking like this.

I also think some of that initial excitement stemmed from the return of free roam. That honeymoon phase is now over. The real feelings come out.

When I play a game I'm interested in how much fun everything could be, free roam is a plus, or at least free roam swinging mechanics well applied

We may get a Smythe or the Tinkerer involved, or both. If that happens I'm interested

Well news flash, it's a movie based game. It's set in the movie universe and takes place after the first movie. We're not GOING to get a whole host of classic, big villains. We're not going to get Green Goblin or Doc Ock or anything because they're most likely going to be used in future movies.

So we'll get the small fries. But if you just want to fight Spidey villains, go play Shattered Dimensions. If you're more interested in the free roam gameplay, then lets wait until we actually SEE some before we judge, hmm?

Sure, movie licensed, doesn't allow for the use of the cream of the crop, don't mind that, but robots? What about Hydroman? Spot? Electro (deserves justice after that crap story he appeared in)? Beetle? Someone fun?

After the Sentinel fight in X-Men Origins: Wolverine I thought "Enough is enough", I dislike robots to fight, they take too long to fight and are a pain in the fingers

Now the Spider-Slayer thing made me carve watching the Spider-Slayer episodes from the 90s cartoon

agreed on all accounts.

Also, if they are following the pattern of previous free roam Spidey games, then there is absolutely no reason there can't be other villains. There's every chance they will run with multiple villain storylines.

I might skip this game, and maybe I'll play it just for being the geek I know myself to be

I'll admit that I was a bit harsh on the trailer, and no, I'm not writing off the entire game yet.

My point still stands, however, that the trailer is awful, and so far, makes the game even more dull than EoT. At least the former had an interesting concept and story to keep me playing.

Hopefully, we get to see more of the city itself, other characters, and even some voice acting. Would have been nice to hear Spidey speak a bit.

Teaser looked good, trailer looked bad. Very disappointed so far.

I hope the biological attack doesn't lead to Spider-Island or a viral attack

I liked the trailer, shows how much of a badass spidey really has to be in order to take on these huge robots lol.

The animation looks beautiful and I'm sorry but the free roam is enough to keep me interested.

I agree, the fact that these robots have "malfunctioned" lead me to believe a villains hand is behind them.

I know that internet message boards are filled with people complaining about this and that, freaking out at things before knowing all the details etc., but you people surprise me. What about that trailer makes you think it will only be robots? And since when is destroying a crap load of giant robots, as Spider-Man no less, not totally awesome? Did we watch the same thing here? I mean, the way he was swinging around and dismantling it, it was so Spidey.

Please no:doh:
I like those stories, but yeah

Trailer is growing on me faster than I expected, and it does make him look like a badass 15 years old kid

Way too many of them
And since when is destroying a crap load of giant robots, as Spider-Man no less, not totally awesome?
It's a pain

Wait...so in the trailer, which is probably only part of the game, there are TOO many robots? What is the appropriate numbers of robots per game? Per level? Now, if the entire game was just Spider-Man fighting robots, then yeah, it would suck. But I really don't think that will be the case.

And, how is fighting a robot any more of a pain than some thug or B-level super villain?
