Some of the filmmakers' design choices have been already been debated, but as the release of the film nears and we see more and more, it seems good to have a thread specifically about artistic choices.
I've always been a fan of the new suit design since I first saw it, but originally was in the camp that regretted the loss of the classic red belt. But now I don't miss it. I think not having the belt works with Garfield's slim build. I like the sneakers (makes sense for running, etc), the webshooters, and am extremely glad he has black weblines instead of silver. I'm a big fan of the updated, redesigned suit.
As for Lizard, I'm not in the camp clamoring for snout. I'm very happy with the humanized Lizard design, and am glad we'll be seeing some labcoat (don't know if purists were joking when they asked for pants, but I'm hoping we won't see any... coat is enough). I wasn't a fan of the first-glimpse artwork poster of the grinning Lizard, but have loved the recent images we've seen, like the hand holding the camera, the German trailer frame with the tail, and the EW photo of his face close up looking through the blinds.
The design of NYC in the trailers look great. The Oscorp building looks futuristic but, yet the exterior sets in nicely with the city.
All in all, from what I've seen so far, I'm totally on board with Webb's cinematic vision of Spider-Man.
