That's not the case. You see the parents played an important role in the ultimate universe and Peter in the last film wasnt that obsessed but was mainly suspicious about them with them acting like their scared and their research.
Pete never acted like Edward at all but rather a guy with a tough life at school and after he got bit. He even acted like a real person
Care to explain how Peter was a jerk?
Also the tone in the movie was the same as the ultimate comics and the 616 comics. He always had a lot of dark stuff like being buried alive by kraven for 2 weeks
Based on the trailers for TASM 2, this franchise has clearly made his parents the priority over Uncle Ben. That, to me, is not Spider-Man. Uncle Ben is Peter's true father figure, and I feel like he's been completely discarded.
Peter acted like a stalking jerk, similar to Edward Cullen. Taking pictures of a girl to put on his computer without her knowing he took those pictures? Arriving to his crush's house through her bedroom window? Treating his crush's parents like garbage when they've made him dinner and welcomed him into their home (I was 100% on Captain Stacy's side in the film during that scene)? Intentionally being a social outcast to look all cool and stuff? Yeah, Edward Parker, in my opinion. He was also a complete jerk to the school bully (Flash) during the basketball scene; it wasn't even a case where he was defending himself to the point where it got out of hand. He was a jerk from the get-go in that scene.
Even in the beginning of the film, he's shown skateboarding in the hallways and sassing a teacher. I can't think of anything so UN Peter Parker-like, especially pre-spider bite. Additionally, in the beginning of the film when Peter was "defending" that kid who was getting beaten up by Flash, he made a complete show of it. I didn't get the vibes that he was defending the kid; I was getting the vibes that he was participating in a stick-measuring contest with Flash, considering how they were BOTH getting in each other's faces. In the early comics, Flash would get into Peter Parker's face, and all Peter would do is make an awkward attempt to snark back and then say to himself that he wish he could teach him a lesson with his spider powers, but can't and shouldn't.
The car thief scene. It started out
awesome, but as Ron Burgundy would say, it escalated quickly. Peter as Spider-Man is supposed to be more confident, he's supposed to be sassy, and he intentionally irritates the bad guys, so the beginning of that car thief scene was fantastic. Then, he tries to KILL the guy? I would have forgiven that, if Peter had realized he was getting caught in the moment (as that's happened in the comics), but nope! We have the hormonal teenage version of Frank Castle, here. Oh yeah, and he never took responsibility for Uncle Ben's death in the movie. He was blaming everyone else, which is, again, not true to Spider-Man's character (in my opinion).
Also, "Broken promises are the best kind." Worst line EVER uttered by any superhero ever. Nerd rage. Pure nerd rage. It's like the punk didn't learn a thing about anything that happened throughout the course of the movie.
I also had a hard time watching the film because every character was exceedingly stupid, but that's another story.
ANYWAY, back to TASM 2: Based on the trailers, the movie's plot looks like a mess, but the tone (to me) looks more faithful to the early comic books' tone. Based on Joker's review, I am glad that this new movie is making an attempt to make Peter more likable (at least he's feeling guilt about breaking his promise to Captain Stacy, which is good!).
