C'mon it's Electro! Sure he was marketed as the main villain or someone who can be badass but if they nailed Electro's essence, good job Marc.

I think it's just that sony marketed Electro as the main villain and therefore people are a bit disappointed about that. The nice thing about the upcoming Sinister Six is that we know Electro will return.

I felt like "The Suits" meddled in pretty well with the first TASM:

"Oooh, people loved Nolan's Batman movies, so let's make this one darker! And while we're at it, let's make Peter obsessed about his parents, like Batman! Even though we can't put Spidey or his parents in an Avengers movie! Uncle Ben WHO? Peter's parents are more important!"

"Oooh, but people also loved the first two Raimi movies, so let's repeat several of the plot points from the first movie! Let's make the villain a green guy who loses his funding for his research, thus leading him to test his work on himself, thus leading to bad consequences! Ooops!"

"Oooh, teenage girls liked Twilight, so let's make Peter Parker a 'bad boy' type to make him more attractive for girls! While we're at it, let's give him the same hairdo as Edward Cullen! And let's have Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone channel Robert Pattinson and Kirsten Stewart by stuttering and twitching at each other! And skateboards! Teenagers think skateboarding is kewl!"

People rag on Spider-Man 3, because the suits meddled in enough to shoehorn Venom into the film (which they totally did, I cannot deny). The first TASM is guilty of this same stuff, in my opinion. Watching the first TASM was an irritating experience for me, because I could almost hear the suits talking over the movie. I know many disagree with me on this, but whatever. My opinion; don't expect anyone to agree with me.

That's not the case. You see the parents played an important role in the ultimate universe and Peter in the last film wasnt that obsessed but was mainly suspicious about them with them acting like their scared and their research.

Pete never acted like Edward at all but rather a guy with a tough life at school and after he got bit. He even acted like a real person

Care to explain how Peter was a jerk?

Also the tone in the movie was the same as the ultimate comics and the 616 comics. He always had a lot of dark stuff like being buried alive by kraven for 2 weeks

SevebWebHeads Non-Spoiler reaction after the film:

[YT]1lHIhnpQ6cc[/YT]

He says that he is torn between Raimi's Spider-Man 2 and Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when it comes to the best Spider-Man film, and says that a lot of what was in the trailers was either cut or had different takes.SevebWebHeads Non-Spoiler reaction after the film:

I'm not sure if this has been asked yet and it most likely has been, but where does "We have plans for you Peter Parker" come from. Was the scene in the film and in what context? Sorry if this has been brought up!

I actually respect his opinion more than most people. I mean he wouldn't sway me either way but it's nice to hear that he liked it.

Oh! I can't believe I haven't asked this question yet!

What do we see of Peter's web shooters? Do we ever see him with it on, when he's not in suit so you can see it's' bracelets?

Wanted to bump my question to the new page lol.

Electro is certainly a mentally complicated person, talked to himself, talk to pictures of spiderman, starts of thinking he is spideys best friend then incredible jealous of everyone looking at spidey over him

Just back from it.

Plot was muddied at times and lost focus in places.

That being said...

Best Spider-Man film ever.

9.9/10

Will write a proper review when I come down off my adrenaline high, my frayed emotions heal and my back stops aching from how tense I was at the end.

Nah it wasn't , actually Norman and Peter didn't physically meet throughout the film.

That last one is quite interesting. It hasn't been brought up before.

Marc Webb gives wonderful direction in this movie just as he did in the first one. He gives perfect direction on the previously mentioned character scenes in particular, but I also found he seems to have become a much better action director with this sequel as well. Some of the action in this film is truly incredible, a lot of the scenes are very heart pounding and are all wholly entertaining. There is also a phenomenal score to accompany the the action. The VFX in this movie are absolutely beautiful, one of ‘The Amazing Spider Man”s biggest problems was its mediocre CGI, but there’s no worry of that in this movie because it looks great. This movie feels like a comic book movie. It doesn’t go dark and gritty like other superhero movies feel the need to do, and I respect it so much more for that. The colours are bright and gorgeous, and I’m so happy to finally see some good Spidey swinging around the city scenes that are exhilarating and incredible to experience. I’m just so happy after seeing this movie. Is it better than ‘Spider-Man 2′? I’m not sure I can decide yet. Having seen ‘Spider-Man 2′ countless times I think it would be unfair to compare it to this just yet. ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ isn’t a perfect movie, but it sure is a hell of a lot of fun.

I give THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 a 9.5/10.

yes you see the web shooters as bracelets on his wrist, during the scene Peter is attempting to modify the webbing after the Times Square showdown

i agree it felt like the suits meddled in the first one, but none of what you mentioned really felt forced to me. if anything, it felt like they got in the way of the parent subplot, seeing as it simply vanished from the movie.

i never understood the issue with the new direction. to me, at least he was an actual character as opposed to the cardboard cutout he was in the first 3.

Hey Climperoonie, been a long time since you've posted! Plot was muddled but you still gave it a 9.9/10? :D :wow:

RT critic?

Don't think so, but I don't remember reading this much flow of positive reviews from literally everywhere in a long time, and I was following The Winter Soldier. It's clear to me that this will be a GIGANTIC box office hit, and it will stay around the 80s on RT.

About the movie seemingly tackling a lot of different plotlines & different tones, is it safe to say that it feels even more like a comic book coming to life?

Some might say I'm using this as an excuse, but I think it's an interesting thing, considering the movie seems to be focusing mainly on Pete & Gwen's relationship and him being Spider-Man and having to face challenges in the midst of it all, feels very comic booky, and not very traditional to the usual formula.

there is at least 2 attempted jump scares in the film a lady sitting on the left side of me jumped out her skin twice, it won't scare everyone though lol

Based on the trailers for TASM 2, this franchise has clearly made his parents the priority over Uncle Ben. That, to me, is not Spider-Man. Uncle Ben is Peter's true father figure, and I feel like he's been completely discarded.

Peter acted like a stalking jerk, similar to Edward Cullen. Taking pictures of a girl to put on his computer without her knowing he took those pictures? Arriving to his crush's house through her bedroom window? Treating his crush's parents like garbage when they've made him dinner and welcomed him into their home (I was 100% on Captain Stacy's side in the film during that scene)? Intentionally being a social outcast to look all cool and stuff? Yeah, Edward Parker, in my opinion. He was also a complete jerk to the school bully (Flash) during the basketball scene; it wasn't even a case where he was defending himself to the point where it got out of hand. He was a jerk from the get-go in that scene.

Even in the beginning of the film, he's shown skateboarding in the hallways and sassing a teacher. I can't think of anything so UN Peter Parker-like, especially pre-spider bite. Additionally, in the beginning of the film when Peter was "defending" that kid who was getting beaten up by Flash, he made a complete show of it. I didn't get the vibes that he was defending the kid; I was getting the vibes that he was participating in a stick-measuring contest with Flash, considering how they were BOTH getting in each other's faces. In the early comics, Flash would get into Peter Parker's face, and all Peter would do is make an awkward attempt to snark back and then say to himself that he wish he could teach him a lesson with his spider powers, but can't and shouldn't.

The car thief scene. It started out awesome, but as Ron Burgundy would say, it escalated quickly. Peter as Spider-Man is supposed to be more confident, he's supposed to be sassy, and he intentionally irritates the bad guys, so the beginning of that car thief scene was fantastic. Then, he tries to KILL the guy? I would have forgiven that, if Peter had realized he was getting caught in the moment (as that's happened in the comics), but nope! We have the hormonal teenage version of Frank Castle, here. Oh yeah, and he never took responsibility for Uncle Ben's death in the movie. He was blaming everyone else, which is, again, not true to Spider-Man's character (in my opinion).

Also, "Broken promises are the best kind." Worst line EVER uttered by any superhero ever. Nerd rage. Pure nerd rage. It's like the punk didn't learn a thing about anything that happened throughout the course of the movie.

I also had a hard time watching the film because every character was exceedingly stupid, but that's another story.

ANYWAY, back to TASM 2: Based on the trailers, the movie's plot looks like a mess, but the tone (to me) looks more faithful to the early comic books' tone. Based on Joker's review, I am glad that this new movie is making an attempt to make Peter more likable (at least he's feeling guilt about breaking his promise to Captain Stacy, which is good!).

So, 7WH didn't like how scenes in the trailer were not in the movie, and different scenes from the trailer actually took place?

I can't get disappointed by that since I only watched one trailer, lol.

Haha, snap! [BLACKOUT]Just like Gwen's neck. Damn, now I've made myself sad again...[/BLACKOUT]

Yeah I stay away mostly in the lead up to films and lurk rather than get involved haha.

The muddied plot was easy to ignore when they got the characters and relationships perfect. Not only that but it found it's stride shortly before the third act which lead to the best last half hour or so I've ever seen in a film. I was so tense that I was trembling at one point.

Truth be told, EVERYTHING in this movie reminds me of a comic book. From the action and the visuals down to the personalities and the dialogue and the way the plot seems to be constructed, it really feels like a comic book come to life. I think that's pretty awesome. :awesome:
