I thought you said on CBM she wasn't Felicia?

throne_of_lies_elf.gif

Because that wasn't her name when I saw the film. She was using a 'cover' name, weird name. I'm only saying what I've heard. There was no hint whatsoever she was Felicia other than the fact that she knew the 'special projects' room in Oscorp.

I don't think I have a problem with this. The first time I saw the SDCC footage, it already felt like a new film. Heck, the new suit reveal even made you raise an eyebrow and is basically a testament to a complete tone change.

I feel they knew what TASM was, and wanted to fix, fine-tune, or just overall change whatever they needed to for the sequel to be a good Spider-Man movie. That's obviously their goal.

Well as a person who enjoyed the look and tone of ASM I felt a little disappointed that this felt so different. Not bad but different.

Her role defo feels like its a set up to them introducing black cat at some point

There is alot in this film but the villains never fight for attention
Rhino- Introduces us to Max Dillon,
also a plot device to bring Spidey back after "that happened"
Electro- Two fight scenes, but has Electro kill Ravencroft guards and Oscorp staff.
Harry Goblin- "Like two-face" he's there but it is emotionally intense

The difference between this and Dark Knight was in Dark Knight, Joker was the main villain. He was marketed as the main villain and felt like the main villain. We had Scarecrow for a scene and Dent at the end but still it felt like Joker as the main.

This doesn't seem to have a main.

But it seems like he is being used. If you remember, Joker used Two-Face. In this it sounds like Harry is using Electro.

Also Harry kills Gwen. That steals some of Electro's thunder.

Harry's the main villain imo. I never once thought Electro was the main villain.

EDIT: Up to the Times Square fight, Electro felt somewhat like the main villain, but after that it was really all about Harry and his quest of healing himself.

I wouldn't necessarily say Harry used Electro it was basically a you scratch my back ill scratch your type situation.

Their scene together in Oscorp was a highlight for me, Harry showed his desire to lead people in that scene

And I have to say, I liked Dehaan as Goblin, and I hope his transformation gets stronger in the sequel. Man, I wish they would have gone the transformation route in the Raimi Movie, so Dafoe could have given us his creepy grin..

His grin and almost reptilian persona as the Goblin was well cool. Can't wait to see more of him.

Another thing I liked about Electro, his plan to get revenge for stealing his power plant ideas by creating a blackout really fitted the villain.

They raised the stakes with planes trying to land and Aunt May trying to help hospitals run the life support systems. I liked how it wasn't a plan that had some forced political or social commentry, just pure nail biting action!

I felt that they didn't fully explain the reasoning behind his plan other than him saying the god line.

Wanting to deprive the City of power and then be the one to give it to them and be appreciated and loved fit his character perfectly.

The planes and Aunt mays hospital scenes were a distraction for me. I think it tipped the scale overboard making it a tad too much and would've been better without them.

I mean we had Electros sub-plot, the Osborn/Oscorp sub-plot, Peter and Gwen and the resolution to the Richard Parker sub-plot. Them alone would've made it just fine but adding the Airport people and Aunt mays scenes just for me made it too much going on.

seen it today and honestly its wasnt great it had some decent moments but over all it was just there and kinda forgettable, thinking about it seems if webb was told he could make a romantic movie about peter and gwen and leave out all spidey and villains it would prefer it, it seemed a lot more effort went into these scenes than others

pros

emma stone, she actually made me care about gwen and thats saying something because i have never cared for the character. and her death was superb. its a kinda a shame she was gwen though she played her superbly i would have loved to see how she would have worked with a more complex character like mj

gwens death, i'm so glad they actually had the balls to do the web line aspect i really thought the would chicken out

the cinematography was superb, with some of the webswing right down to small romantic being beautifully photographed

electro was better than i expected

cons

villain origins, seriously does everything have to come from genetic animals and the fact the goblin "forumla" came from spiders venom. thats just lazy writing(and before someone says it yes it was lazy back when it was oz in the ultimate line)

the goblin, ok it was no secret i wasnt a fan of the goblin design but the in film he was wasted, no build up apart from a passing mention of the battle suit, nothing on the glider or the pumpkin bombs and honestly his transformation and first appearance were met with laughter at the screening.

yeah you could say harry had build up and he did to a degree but if the goblin is spideys arch nemesis the fact he just shows up has a big shaky cam fight and then just gets knocked out roughly 10 -15 minutes after his first appearance is kinda poor

norman wasn't even needed for all the build up and others on here saying he was a master manipulator in this film he just gets introduced, complains about harry and the dies thats it.and with the removal of the head scene and the fact that harry is in ravencroft putting the sinister 6 together it seems old norm has been thrown on the unneeded character pile

i dont know what it was but the film seemed to drag, i found myself looking at my watch more than once

i had my reservations about this film during production but i went in with an open mind and wanting to enjoy it and hope it surprised me like the first did but sadly it was just meh and so far the low end of the summer blockbusters

this is just my opinion and i know some really wont like it but it comes from a real die hard spidey fan the film was just ok i'd say a 6.5/10

ps what the hell was an x-men scene doing after the credits:huh:

This is why Josh Wilding's claim that TASM2 is like Batman and Robin is absolute horse ****. There's is no way in the universe that elements as good as what is in TASM2 could amount to the rubbish from B&R. No possible way.

I'll say this in his defence, I can kinda see where he was coming from. I wouldn't go so far as to say Batman and Robin but on more than one occasion Batman Forever crossed my mind in terms of how this movie presents itself.

This came across as bright and colourful and fun and humorous for the majority. Tonally I'd compare it to Avengers. Though when ASM2 handled drama it nailed it.

villain origins, seriously does everything have to come from genetic animals and the fact the goblin "forumla" came from spiders venom. thats just lazy writing(and before someone says it yes it was lazy back when it was oz in the ultimate line)

All I would point out is that it's like that in the comics, villains based on animals.
And it's not unheard of for science to look to the animal kingdom for advanced in the medical field.

the goblin, ok it was no secret i wasnt a fan of the goblin design but the in film he was wasted, no build up apart from a passing mention of the battle suit, nothing on the glider or the pumpkin bombs and honestly his transformation and first appearance were met with laughter at the screening.

Agreed about the lack of build up. But the crawl to the suit because Harry knew of it's healing qualities was cool.

norman wasn't even needed for all the build up and others on here saying he was a master manipulator in this film he just gets introduced, complains about harry and the dies thats it.and with the removal of the head scene and the fact that harry is in ravencroft putting the sinister 6 together it seems old norm has been thrown on the unneeded character pile

I was saddened that Norman was so underused.

So guys, would any of you who have seen it in IMAX 3D recommend it? I want to know because I am thinking of seeing it in IMAX when it comes out in may
