Interesting. Weird that they didn't put Uncanny X-Men in with what Fraction writes though, considering that's still the headlining book of a pretty sizeable chunk of the MU.

I heard about this promotion. Now, I agree that I would have rather seen more lesser tier writers who do good work but don't get much pub spotlighted, but at least this is different than YOUNG GUNS.

What I don't get is some of the writers who are being hyped due to the premise. It's to spotlight writers who are working on the building blocks of the MU. Fine. Then Bendis makes perfect sense; he's been THE Marvel primer since 2004. Everything he does in his Avengers books effects the line, and he's written 3 out of 5 line wide events. You could also figure that Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction work into that as well. Brubaker wrote UXM and has been on CAPTAIN AMERICA for years, which has effected the entire line. His mini-event, CAPTAIN AMERICA REBORN did as well, and his run has at times seen national TV coverage or commentary (plus, SECRET AVENGERS). Fraction, naturally, writes THOR, INVINCIBLE IRON MAN and UXM.

But after that, then I'm scratching my head. Jonathan Hickman writes FANTASTIC FOUR, and that's Marvel's first Silver Age franchise that can always use more promotion. Fine. But SHIELD? The confusing critical darling mini series that sells like bupkiss? And SECRET WARRIORS that is ending with nary a peep (especially compared to the outrage that THOR: MIGHTY AVENGER's cancellation got)? Really?

Jason Aaron, who is, again, a fine writer, is another odd choice. He writes WOLVERINE, but that franchise is selling lower than ever. The things that Wolverine does that actually matter happen IN EVERY SINGLE TEAM BOOK BUT HIS OWN. Aaron in fact writes little of what changes Logan's world. And ASTONISHING SPIDER-MAN & WOLVERINE? The six issue bi-monthly that is running a month late? That's barely in continuity? Seriously? Good thing they didn't mention GHOST RIDER, because Blaze's appearance in SHADOWLAND seem to imply little of that run.

I would have picked Christos Gage. He's writing AVENGERS ACADEMY, which in theory SHOULD matter because it is featuring the old guard Avengers teaching the future Avengers. Or what about Jeff Parker, who is on HULKS and THUNDERBOLTS? Or heck, Dan Slott, the new solo ASM writer whose work actually sells in the Top 10-25 on it, doesn't get a mention? The guy who launched AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE and took over MIGHTY AVENGERS?

It's an internal promotion scheme, so it's really up to their own logic. The fact that it seems baffling is nothing new. Mere mortals are not meant to comprehend it.
