I mean, as far as unmanned rockets to mars go, several countries have been doing that every few years for a couple of decades now.

As I said they should try make a mission to get a rocket to Mars in under a month, the mission is not getting to mars it's developing energy that can do that in a month(give or take a few weeks)

Researchers at the University of Washington are working on a fusion-powered spacecraft that could theoretically ferry astronauts to Mars and back in just 30 days—shaving off years from what scientists believe a trip using current technology would take.

The project, funded by NASA's Innovative Advanced Concepts Program and also involving Redmond, Wash.-based space propulsion company MSNW, is exploring a "unique manipulation of nuclear fusion," according to the University of Washington. If the technology works, it could cut down the time it takes for interplanetary voyages while also reducing costs and the health risks faced by humans making such trips,.

Actively trying to make people give up their faith doesn't sit well with me. But at the same time, I feel sorry for them because I think they're misguided and devoting so much of themselves to something that isn't real.

I'm opposed to a secular crusade. But if you're creating entertainment that people willingly seek out, then yeah, use it to make some logical arguments.

I lost faith in god the first time it snowed in May. It's snowing again right ****ing NOW! Again!

No matter what I post here I'm not really one for trying to make people lose faith in their religions. I'm just trying to make them see that religion shouldn't be considered perfect and that they need to think outside the box if they want to take it literally. Also, picking and choosing what you want to believe when there's things in the books that you like against what you don't when it's supposed to be followed the same way isn't really going to convince people to join you. It just shows that you do as you please no matter what the book says.

I want to clear something up for yall. There is a reason Christians believe some things in the bible snd not others and it isnt random choice. Accordong to Hebrews 8:13

By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete, and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

Depending on the denomination snd or specific dogma and interpretation some believe Jesus did away with the Old Laws. Even very strict Orthodox Jews dont sacrifice animals anymore and it isnt because of it being barbaric. Its because the Temple is no longer standing and thats where animal sacrifices were done. If the Temple is ever rebuilt you better believe very strict Orthodox Jews that follow the Law to the word will want to sacrific animals at the temple.

My point is that it isnt cherry picking for cherry picking's sake. There is a method to the madness and if you believe all parts of the Bible are inspired then Hebrews 8:13 makes it clear that the Old Law is obsolete.

I know that the OT rules are mostly out. I'm talking about people who go on about people judging others and constantly demean everyone else or go on about how marriage is a sacred bond then get caught with their secretary in the bathroom. The hypocrites that tend to wind up yelling and screaming at others using archaic words and refuse to follow those same things themselves because they believe they are already 'saved' and therefore beyond judgement.

Oh you mean the people Jesus specifically preached against.

Mathew 23:23-28
23. Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

Ive set in many a lesson where the bible teacher talked about those wicked Pharisees, but couldnt see that these verses speak about modern Christians and their hypocrisy juat as much as they do the Pharisees.

I'm walking down a countryside path to the beach. 20 minute walk. An America lady in her fifties began to chat to me. She asked ''What's your relationship with God?''. I said I was an atheist. I turned the conversation about her trip here, but then began to talk about the red moon or some ****. The asked if I wanted to stop a pray…I declined. Nice lady, but I really had to restrained myself from arguing with her.

You could have told her the red moon was a normal astrological event and will show up every now and then so it's not like it's important or anything.

I find that to be a very rude question.

Also, the fact that you said you were an atheist and she still asked you if you wanted to pray is downright ignorant.

Another answer to give is "Civil. He leaves me alone and I leave him alone."

You're kinder than I would have been. If someone interrupted my lovely path walking with talk of praying, their body wouldn't be found until the next spring (joking! Sorta...:sus).

MrsK is hardcore. :wow:

I think when confronted with people who try to pressure you into religion the best answer is to stop, turn around and say one thing.

**** OFF! :cmad:

I kid.

How do you know that she was American? She could have been Canadian.:o

*hopes that she really was Canadian*

If I didn't have my walking (beating) stick or bear (human) spray present, I might use that approach instead, lol.

If she's a little old lady you could just haul off on her then book it.

You carry around a beating stick with bear spray? How good is your kung-fu?

I remember being in Crete during Easter, some years ago. It appears to be celebrated there by a short nocturnal hike over scenic coastal paths, before a Guy Fawkes loaded with fireworks is ignited and sent down a zip line from a church tower. A beautiful teenaged girl then gives you little pieces of delicious cake.

I think atheism can learn from that.

Blow things up then eat cake? Sounds good.

Although that just sounds like Saturday night where I'm from.

I'll take their cake and then they can take their Fawkes effigy and move along...

Or you could zap them with an invisibility shield and leave them alive.
Their bodies still wouldn't be seen until spring !
