Found theses. They're from the same concept artist Michael Meyers, that created the earlier Helicarrier concept.

Sighs. Parker Wayne, why is it that you feel like you need to dump all over an argument you haven't been a part of from the moment it started? We've been discussing actors' heights in perfect acord until you had to walk in here and fill me with your expected rudeness (that for some reason Odinson seems to agree with). Do you get a kick out of being this way? If you got nothing to say regarding the debate at hand, try not saying anything at all. Some people don't come here to start arguments.

I did respond, just not directly to you. It's called looking at the posts.

I just think it's silly that you think a shorter guy can't be imposing, it's not like he's a midget or portrayed as really short on film.

I'm just stating my honestly by saying that you talking about the height of Cheadle as a reason for him not being imposing is a silly argument, especially considering that no one except you noticed.

I couldn't imagine hearing Terrence Howard's voice twang out of War Machine. I've seen him play intimidating but with Iron Man, I was never really sold on him as a military man. My personal pick for the role was always Idris Elba but Don Cheadle wasn't too shabby. It would be kind of funny if they didn't want RDJ to looks less imposing than a physically larger War Machine.

It's probably a little foul but I always laugh when I watch Iron Man and the scene with Rhodey looking at the previous armor and saying "Next time." comes up.

Idris Elba would have been great, too. As much as I enjoyed him as Heimdall, I kind of wish he hadn't played that character because I'd rather see him in a larger role. Dude's a good actor.

That has nothing to do with the actors, that was a problem with the writing. Have you ever watched the movie Pride? It's about my sister's swimming coach's swimming coach. He had a lot of gravitas in that movie. Had the writing called for it, Howard could have done way better than Cheadle. This might be the first time I agree with Alexei, I laughed whenever Cheadle attempted to be badass or commanding, especially the "Get out" scene.

The concept art for the Helicarruer looks pretty awesome :)

Just talked with the concept artist. He says those were done very early on, and Marvel apparently decided not to go with those designs; which explains why they're in his portfolio.

But looking at that concept banner from SDCC, the helicarriers look quite similar.

So hulk should look pretty much like our concept. That's good.

Is filming coming to a close soon? So far it's been a few days of April, 3 full months...approaching 4.

Still can't believe this movie is happening. It's almost like a dream. People used to drool at the thought of an assemble superhero film. What Marvel Studios is doing is very ambitious and it's scary but exciting!

Spot-on. These arguments against Howard's Rhodey are based on the writing and not on the man. And the whole voice argument just baffles me when we're comparing a guy that's 6'2" and actually menacing to a guy that's 5'6" and as intimidating as Wayne Brady. Maybe its just me, but if I had Don Cheadle barking orders at me, I'd look down and say the same thing I said when I heard he was cast: "Really? Seriously?" The guy evokes zero gravitas. Still a good actor, just not a War Machine.

It's called good acting (no offense to Howard), and you say that it's on the writing and not the man; Do you forget the writers affect the man?

Such as one scene in IM1. Tony is 3 hours late, and instead of voicing his anger, he came off as too soft and a bit whiny. He wasn't assertive.

I just felt that Cheadle's Rhodey had more personality and better chemistry. There's nothing to be baffled about. I'm trying to change your opinion, but I'm trying to get into your mind that saying that Howard is better because of size is ridiculous because 99% of people, admittedly me too, didn't care for height.

Parker Wayne, I like Don Cheadle as an actor. What we're discussing here is whether or not Don Cheadle is more commanding/menacing than Terrence Howard in his guise as Rhodes. I find it hard to dismiss the height factor when again, we're comparing their intimidatory strengths. I don't find Cheadle intimidating at all. Its not a slight against him, but when you introduce me to a character with specific physical characteristics that evoke ruggedness and you take those away, replacing them with those of an average-looking man with no gravitas, its hard for me to approve. Imagine if they recast Evans & got Shia LeBeouf to play Cap. I wouldn't care at all if his performance leveled Marlon Brando's in On The Waterfront. I would laugh and say "if this is Cap, then I'm Galactus." There's one shot of Cheadle where he walks into the party & has a tantrum when he sees Tony drunk. He raises his finger & tells Pepper to do something "or else". I literally had to hold my laughter. Then came "Get Out". I exploded.

Strange to me.

It's jarring to you when Howard is switched to Cheadle, but you need a wait and see for Ruffalo. How does that work exactly? In your example you even said the replacement in Batman for Dawes was fine acting-wise, but the actual switch is what made it jarring. So even if Ruffalo is fine, how will it not be?

In exactly the same way it worked for the two examples I stated. You can only experience how the casting change affects things by actually WATCHING the new actor in the role, let alone the whole film.

I'm not one of those people who forms an opinion based on something I would have to see WITHOUT actually seeing it. For one thing, it's not like it's a solid gold rule that recasting is always jarring, there are plenty exceptions, like Bond films, Dr Who. Bruce Banner himself has been played by 3 different actors before anyway, so it's not like everyone was rigidly connecting Norton to Banner. So, like I said, I'll wait and see. It could feel perfectly natural, especially once he turns into the giant green montster that we all instantly recognise.

Hey Guys, guess what! Terrence Howard isn't Rhodey anymore! So who freaking cares? I mean, I love revisiting old, tedious fanboy arguments from 2 years ago just as much as the next guy, but for the love of ODIN, let it REST!

Well, speaking of Chris Evans, Captain America will have matched Fantastic Four's entire Domestic BO gross this weekend - after just 3 weeks. While the boost of 3D conversion & 6 years of inflation are a factor, Cap really proved to be Evans' rise to fame. He's been around for a decade, but this is his moment in the sun. Who woulda thought the guy that was cast as The Human Torch in a crappy Fantastic Four movie would be so much better as Captain America? Almost gives me hope that Ryan Reynolds will push for a Deadpool movie and wipe away the memory of GL.

Yeah, Cap has been a great success, hey? He's clearly resonated with millions of people as a character.
