I liked "Avengers Unite". That was epic though. Glad Alan is back.

A Redditor who went to the WS screening says the Russos confirmed Alan Silvestri will compose both IW movies.

My problem with the score is that they used two different composers (Elfman and Tyler) who's styles are completely different and don't mesh together at all, and then they compounded that problem by reusing so many of Silvestri's stuff that they basically added a THIRD composer to the mix who's style didn't mesh with the other two. The score never really comes together as a result.

I have mixed feelings about this, I'm happy it's not gonna be Alan Taylor but I wanted Henry Jackman or Steve Jablonsky. Silvestri's music is too upbeat for IW
My sentiments exactly. For something like Infinity War, you need someone who can compose a heavy, epic score like Steve Jablonsky (See Transformers DOTM), Henry Jackman or even Hans Zimmer (Who I really want to do an MCU movie). Not someone like Silvestri. (I didn't care for his cheesy, generic Avengers score)

Was hoping they'd get Steve Jablonsky to do it.

Steve Jablonsky? Han's Zimmer? Avengers is not Transformers or the Zack Snyder DC movies.

Avengers Unite was the best thing about the ST. Rest was really generic.

I was crying during that whole scene where the slo mo 360 shot started happening. That was a definitely a "Forever Fight As One" moment. Who scored that? Elfman or Tyler?

Edit: Elfman scored it.

The thing that annoyed me the most about AoU was that the music wasn't loud enough, it was just sort of there. That clip for example, it's amazing! But the music should overpower the scene and it doesn't.

Well the first film was more cheerful tone-wise from the very beginning: your favorite heroes were finally uniting, the main antagonist was one that you liked more for charm, and it paved the way for an even greater universe ahead.

The MCU movies are getting steadily darker tone-wise

There is also a clear reference to his Spider-Man theme.

The AoU score was garbage to me, so I'll definitely take a return from Silvestri over anything like that again.

Also, no thanks to Jablonsky/Zimmer types, too.

Well, I liked Avengers Unite, and then there was Sacrifce. I probably like that one song because of the Scarlet/Vision scene.

I liked the theme Elfman wrote for the twins, but that was about it.

What's wrong with two of one best composers in Hollywood scoring an Avengers movie? Who cares if they did Transformers or DC movie, what matters is that they fit the material and the case of Infinity War, they fit like a glove imo.

Simple, I don't consider Jablonsky anywhere near one of the best in the industry. And Zimmer's sound is synonymous with the DCEU now, so I'd prefer some variety in my superhero scores.

They should have just reused Henry Jackman tbh I like TA score but I don't want that campy optimism to be the sound of IW

I prefer a traditional symphonic score over the synthy stuff most of the suggested composers do, tbh. I wish there were more of those with these types of movies these days. The bombastic drum/electronic-driven style that Zimmer really brought to the forefront and all these guys are taking after now gets old for me after a while because so few of them write legitimate themes anymore. Silvestri's themes for Avengers weren't exactly amazing but at least they felt like real themes, imo. Jackman's score for TWS worked for the film but it was basically just a bunch of pulsating strings and electronic noise. Hardly a timeless composition or one for the ages, imo.

It's obvious today's audience feels differently from me though, as I felt James Horner did a great old-fashioned theme for TASM and mostly just got bashed for it (and replaced with Zimmer for the sequel. Go figure.). *shrug*

I liked parts of AoU's scores.
The Avengers and twins themes, the part from Pietro's Death to The Vision-Ultron speech, the Vision's birth scene. But it was definately messy.

Is it a coincidence that the best tracks were made by Danny Elfman? :hehe: he should have made the whole soundtrack tbh

Wan't Alan Taylor the director for Thor: TDW? XD

To each their own. I just think somebody like Silvestri is a bad fit for Infinity War,
