It looks okay I guess but kinda like it was made out of an old leather couch.

I don't think it's leather but the texture does resemble it.

I'm sorry if this sounds dickish, but people do realize that no matter what they make these costumes out of, it's probably going to resemble something, right? If it looks like rubber, we say it's too rubbery, if it looks like leather, it's too leathery, if it looks like plastic, etc. I get the impression that people expect these costume designers to create some material that has never been seen on this earth before.

MOS suit was pretty alien. Flash's suit should be a material that loooks earth based

Well, isn't it the same material Arrow's mask is made from? Barry gave him that mask so I assume it's the same type of advanced material he developed.

I don't mind if it has a skin-like texture.

Yeah it looks like it is. I like the material they used.

They want it to look like it's made from comic book stuff, y'know that comic stuff their suits are all made of. So that it looks exactly like the comics.

Devin Faraci has some thoughts on this.
of course.

So, costumes that are painted on to naked bodies ? :p

I don't remember WB announcing that the TV Flash will also be in the movie?
I don't recall saying that they had =P But a lot of folks on here seem to want it, so my comment was geared towards addressing the notion that the guy playing Flash on the little screen might be worthy of the big one.

It's impressive that this is the only negative comment i've seen about the cowl

I would hardly call it a negative comment - I said it looked "pretty cool" and that the design was "decent." That's hardly a diss - the way some folks (including myself) rip on TDKT suit for example. And my overall impression wasn't so much of the cowl itself, but more the guy wearing it. If it had been that cowl with someone like Ryan Kwanten wearing it, my overall reaction would have been better - and I would have probably still thought that it was a decent, pretty cool design. I loved Cap in avengers, mostly because of the guy wearing it. I'd call the Cap suit in that film "decent" and "pretty cool" - nowhere near super cool or great, but the performance was awesome.

I just think that, rather like Andrew Garfield, he doesn't seem to have any "it" factor, at least not the "it" that gets me going. When I saw Cavill in Tudors, I saw a guy with "it." That thing that separates attractive, charasmatic people from "stars." And I'm totally open to being proven wrong, that's just my armchair call.

Oh, let me guess.

"BLAH BLAH BLAH DC fans will watch anything Flash suit is awful, just more Nolan inspired crap he's the worst director in the history of the world I'm smarter than all of you cuz I have blog Marvel rules 4ever Trollolololol."

I hope when Flash does end up in a movie that his costume is similar to Grant's but more vibrant, bright red really makes Flash stand out.

Looks good to me. Can't wait to see the rest of it. I don't mind the darker, deep red look for the show either.

I would like to see a brighter more vibrant red in the eventual JL film as well.

LOL...that is exactly what that tool Fake-Araci is all about. The guy is a total windbag and *****e.

So this just happened

I'm not a huge fan of the stuff around the chin and jaw but I guess Gustin doesn't have much of a Superhero chin so he needs a bit of enhancement.

Apart from that the cowl looks great. However, the collar looks a little jacket-y so I hope the rest of the suit isn't just leather jacket and pants like Ollie's - which I like for Ollie but I think Flash should look a little more traditionally superhero-y form-fitting.

But the cowl really is pretty cool.

The darker costume makes the character of more darker tone, which is consistent with the other characters in this new DC live action Universe. This is probably why it's that way.

Nothing displayed about the character suggests he'll be "dark". He's even got a smirk in the picture.

Nope. They didn't.

HOWEVER, rumors persist that Warners is seriously considering using Gustin as the film universe Flash. Effectively, tying in the Arrowverse w/ the MOSverse. Apparently, he has been impressing the higher ups at WB/CW with his performance and screen tests.

And it's said that the reaction from his Arrow episodes this past December (which was very positive), as well as the reaction to his solo series will determine if they move forward with him as The Flash, or recast for the films.

I was initially hesitant toward Gustin being the film Flash, but he was pretty good on Arrow, and they seem to have spent a fair bit on that costume. Also, with the rumours of CW expanding into other areas of the DCU with their "Young Justice" series, I'd be more than happy for Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin to return as Green Arrow and the Flash.

That's interesting but where do this rumors come from?

Honestly, one of the reasons why I don't want the TV series attached to the film universe is because, based on what I've read about the flash's history, abilities, and villains, I feel like it could only be done right, production level wise, with a film budget.

Plus, it would be kind of jarring to see the Flash be given great/awesome looking special effects when shown on film for the JL series, only to go back to TV budgeted effects for the series.

And as I mentioned before, I'm sure there are characters that have been used by Arrow (and will likely be used within the Flash Series) that the studio or future directors would prefer having a bigger star attached to it instead.

The superspeed that was used on Man of Steel is actually a pretty cheap effect based on stop motion and motion blur effects.

It would take some patience and obviously wouldn't look as good, but it would look pretty good. Hell even the Smallville effect, considering it is over 10 years old in some instances, isn't that bad.

Perhaps, but I doubt they could get away with it as much for some of Flash's villains when it comes to both their looks and the effects needed to replicate their powers on screen.

Plus, with them being a TV Show, it limits as to which star they could approach to take on certain roles as well.
