The Batman (1966) Appreciation Thread - Part 1

No, I found out in the time after I made that post that they renewed the comic. The market for it was strong enough to bring it back. Thankfully.

Are they only doing x-overs with other 60s TV shows now?

They should really do Batman 66 meet Star Trek original series.

Adam West Batman and William Shatner Kirk trying to outdo their scenery chewing, would be tremendous!
Plus Yvonne Craig Batgirl meets Yvonne Craig Orion slave-girl!.

In fact both shows being on at the same time period actually shard several of the same guest actors.

Also Malachi Throne played: False Face and Commodore Mendez
Joan Collins: The Siren and Edith Keeler

DC/IDW have a healthy relationship, they said there is another Trek crossover after Trek/Green Lantern vol2 and there is a high nostalgia for both Trek 66 and Batman 66 at the moment, I think it's inevitable?

Some new pics from the upcoming animated movie;

If only somehow they can digitally remove Gordan's stache and put it on Cesar Romero.

Well it looks like we're going to see the 1966 show version of Two Face after all, he's going to be voiced by William Shatner no less, in a just announced animated sequel called Batman vs Two Face;

At New York Comic Con’s “Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders” panel and world premiere, Warner Bros. Animation president Sam Register revealed that the next DC Comics-based animated film will be a sequel to the ’66 Batman send-up, titled “Batman vs. Two-Face.”

Register closed the panel by revealing a teaser of sorts for the film — after indicating that it would feature a character that never appeared on the ’66 series. He showed a silhouette that looked a lot like Two-Face — which faded away to reveal a video with William Shatner…

In the video, Shatner broke the name of the new film and announced that he’ll be voicing District Attorney Harvey Dent, A.K.A. Two-Face. No further information was given.

“Batman vs. Two-Face” hasn’t been given a release date, though it’ll likely be the next DC Comics animated feature after the upcoming “Justice League Dark.”

Also, don't think anyone has posted, but I saw that Steven Weber is voicing Alfred and Thomas Lennon is Chief O'Hara.

I'm retroactively making this canon. William Shatner = 66's Harvey Dent

Excellent! And Adam and Bill have worked together before?

I wonder if this is based on or inspired by Harlan Ellison's script?

When you look at him, Shatner would have been an awesome Harvey Dent back then. I wonder will they go with this design;

Feedback for the 1966 animated movie has been great so far.

The animation is superb;

Saw the new 66 "Returns" movie last night and it was fantastic!

It was so over the top. Even more so at some points and that just made it brilliant

a couple of minor nit picks

- they needed more narration from whoever was doing the dead on William Dozier impersonation.

-They should have also had a cameo from someone like Michael Keaton when they were walking up the side of a building. Can't believe they missed a window cameo.

-should have had Robin say the "Atomic batteries to power. Turbines to speed" line.

that's all being a little picky. Other than that it was a whole lot of fun. I really hope they make the sequel that you guys are talking about. Getting Linda Carter involved as WW would be great!

Looks good. Wasn't Clint Eastwood supposed to be cast as Two-Face before they scrapped the idea?

Not sure how much truth there is to that. West never mentioned it in his autobiography.

Batman: 66 meets Wonder Woman

With Ras al Ghul as the villain, no less. Awesome!

Once this series comes out we'll have seen '66 versions of all the classic Bat villains, with the exception of Man-Bat & the Ventriloquist, I believe.

Frank Gorshin Riddler Art.

Batgirl Yvonne Craig Art.
