The Batman General News & Discussion Thread - Part 2

Considering Phoenix is not big on sequels I gotta think the script is intriguing at least...

you think i don't know that?? lol. it's better to leave that movie as a standalone success. can't see what type of story Philips can do now. it's completely unnecessary, especially when we have a new joker waiting to be utilized in the next few years and with an actual Batman to oppose him.

There are gonna be multiple cinematic Batmen. So I can’t see why there can’t be multiple Jokers as well.

but there won't though. Keaton will most likely transition into a mentor role and we'll only have Battinson out there.

I was watching some of the doc from the blu-ray and I thought it was cool that Dylan Clark included Schumacher when he was shouting out all the previous Batman directors. It's nice that we've arrived at a point where we don't have to pretend like those movies don't exist and can acknowledge that they have their fans who grew up with them. Similar to the Star Wars prequels I guess.

Now that we've had Christopher Nolan's trilogy and Matt Reeves' film, I don't know how anybody could not get a kick out of B&R. It's hilarious, and easier to look at through a forgiving lens now that we know it didn't kill the franchise forever.

The schumacher films did some things really well in my honest opinion, by making us feel like if it was a movie made from the imagination of a kid playing with his toys. At the end of the day that was the purpose.

I tried this year and still couldn’t take it. Batman Forever is the one that I can get a kick out of now.

i always maintain that val kilmer could've been the goat batman if he was given a better script.

batman forever is still a fun movie.
and chris o'connell made a fine robin/dick grayson.
they aged grayson up to be a young adult to make it work here.

i think i mostly dislike tlj's portrayal of two-face as my chief complaint bout the film.
that is two-face in name only.

Batman and Robin's hard nipples defined a generation.

It's like I always say: fans had to suckle at the unsightly nipples of B&R to get to the warm, nourishing milk of Batman Begins.

I always enjoyed Forever...

Are Got Milk ads even a thing anymore?

Mentioned this in the Forever thread, but I checked out "Val" over the weekend on Amazon Prime. I think it's worth a watch if you're a fan of his. It is pretty upsetting to hear how he sounds now, but his attitude and sense of humor about it all is very heartwarming. It doesn't spend too long on Batman Forever, but the fact that he played Batman is present in the overall story. When you look at his whole career, it's really kind of a strange outlier. But it's clear that grew up loving the 60s series and that's what attracted him to the role. It's just that the experience of making the movie and trying to act through the suit was difficult for him.

He was totally solid in the role though. He is cursed with probably being not too many people's favorite Batman, but I think he still made the most of what he was given and I would say is the closest to a 'classic' Bruce/Batman depiction of the 90s films.

Kilmer in darker Batman film would have been very cool. In an alternate universe, maybe. But I do love his Batman and despite some cheesy lines like "chicks love the car" I'm glad he wasn't winking at the camera for 80% of the movie like Clooney :oldrazz:

His Bruce Wayne was really good, and I like how heroic he was during the circus sequence. I love it when they have Bruce doing hero stuff without the suit, like Bruce protecting Mr. Reese in TDK and Bruce saving the kid in The Batman.
