The Batman General News & Discussion Thread - Part 2

Ok, but that means Momoa is tied to Warner Bros for even longer if that’s your point.

I guess my point is we’re a long ways off from Messiah and it may never happen. So I’m not banking on that Dune stuff. Even so, doesn’t mean they’re keeping Jason in the new vision that will leak well into the 2030’s just because he works with Warner or cuz Aquaman 2 might make money. He’s still a part of the old guard. If they truly want to start over then it would be half assed if they’re gonna keep Jason or Gal.

I mean, Jason can do Dune films and choose not to make DC films going forward.

They’ll let Wan and Jenkins finish and then by 2025-2026 they’ll just have their Batman and Superman as the pillars of a new DCU.

Can we do away with this “DCEU” for good? It has never rolled off the tongue right.

Totally. I think that's the best way to keep the remaining creatives happy, buy yourself some time to plan, and then let a new universe start fresh as the old one comes to somewhat natural end.

I don't know for sure, but I lean towards that The Batman will be fine universe wise. They're kind of stuck with it like Joker. I could see them letting Reeves finish out his movies then rebooting and bring him into their coalized DCU.

As a side note: I wouldn't overthink the Affleck Aquaman thing. I think he replaced Keaton because Flash now will take place after Aquaman.

That’s exactly the reason. It was a quick favour. And I’m sure it will be a tiny scene where they bug each other for 30 seconds.

While Reeves’ Batfilms are pretty secured, I wonder what will become of the Penguin and Arkham spinoff shows. Hope that at least Penguin survives the axe.

Good news is that the Penguin series doesn't seem to be on the radar as of right now for that axe. The reason why they haven't started filming is because Colin is doing another project right now. We shall see if anything changes as we get closer to the end of the year.

I’m pretty sure Colin is doing a project between now and Christmas because of the delay. Not the other way around.

Sounds like the Arkham series isn't happening. It's been nothing but radio silence.

Yeah I'm not sure it survives but decisions like that will be made over the next few months. No doubt Batman properties are safest at this point.

Makes sense to me. If WBD is doing away with scripted HBO MAX exclusives then going to HBO proper is the logical route for some of these shows.
