Your idea for the cowl is pretty much what I was imagining. A textured mask that he can pull over his face which then hardens and becomes vacuum sealed to his head so villains can't just pull it off.
I get what you're saying about the eyes but here's the thing, Bruce Wayne is a billionaire and has a plethora of technology at his disposal, Spider-Man has mechanical lenses because = Tony Stark. That's all the explanation that was needed for his so why can't we apply the same logic to Bruce Wayne? And even then, the lenses can have a function within the movie. I could see him having the white eyes whenever he's fighting/scaring criminals but retracting them anytime he talks to Gordon and his allies.
I always hear the human eyes argument against white eyes. But here's the thing - Batman is not suppose to appear "human" the illusion is that he's an otherworldly creature to criminals. The white eyes looking completely unnatural and uncanny is the entire point. It will make criminals even more afraid of the Batman.
So I'm not disputing the "in universe" reason for white eyes of course Bruce Wayne can invent white eyes on his bat suit because he's Bruce Wayne. It's the on screen execution that has to be absolutley spot on.
Of course white eyes look unnatural, what I'm saying is that cg may not be the way to go to do them for batman. Works for spiderman and dead pool. Batman is different. He can look unnatural and creepy and inhuman but he shouldn't look that way because of uncanny valley and questionable use of CGI. He should look that way because a smart well thought out design was executed on screen. Which is why I promote lenses like Black Panthers that are retractable or contact lenses that can be activated.
