The BATSUIT Thread

I'm ready for something new. 4 years ago, I would have laughed off the suggestion of a Kane-inspired suit. But at this point, I want to see something unique

The blue makes him look too heroic. It'd work for a full blown Batman action film or maybe a JL film, but for a noir? Use black. Black is the quintissential color of noir.

Black should definitely be the most emphasized color, but I wouldn't be opposed to there being a blueish hue depending on the lighting. Many comics have shown that, especially with guys like Tim Sale.

Obviously, though, I think black should be the main color.

Blue is often used in comics to represent black though... it's supposed to be black, but they use blue to represent black things for various reasons.

Look at Bruce's and Selina's hair color here. It looks blue, but it's supposed to be black. Comics use blue for shading purposes.

That's the Affleck cowl...

It could be executed better than the Affleck cowl. Less bulky, more form fitting and flexible. While I'm open to new ideas, I do think his cowl was a step in the right direction and serves as a good baseline for future versions.

True true. Love me some of that Jim Lee artwork haha.

But yeah, I guess not everything translates to film that well. As I said though, black is probably the way to still god tbh

Blue and grey would not mesh well in film, TBH. Especially if it's on the lighter shade of grey.

I think that's why it hasn't been done yet. Might come off as looking too cartoony on film

The problem with blue is that it makes Batman look too heroic. It'd work, but for a different kind of film, not one that all things considered is likely to be inspired by Taxi Driver in terms of aesthetic.

Whatever the colors of the batsuit are, Reeves would certainly blend it with the tone and aesthetic of the film. I think blue would work well with any considering that the costume will only be seen during night.

Bingo!

Batman isn't any superhero... he's Batman. The batsuit is supposed to be creature of the night scary and all that, not something you immediately recognize as heroic

with the right lighting from a cinematographer who knows what they're doing, they could definitely pull off a darker blue cowl/cape if they wanted to.

Hell, these days they can make Rainbow Batman work if they really wanted to.

Reach time.

Pattinson and Hoult put on a suit from a previous Batman movie, as has become customary in the Bat-test process. (Christian Bale, before landing Batman Begins, performed his test in the suit used by Val Kilmer in 1995’s Batman Forever, for instance.) Did they embody the character? How did their eyes look and act? Is there a specialness to them? Those were the questions Reeves and the studio wanted answered.

Makes me think they won't be doing lenses. At least not as permanent fixtures in the cowl.

It’s splitting hairs, but I agree with you. For a more blockbustery heroic Batman (ie. What they were clearly going for in the hyper colorized JL marketing), I’m all for blue but for a noir, not so much. I do think the purple gloves and/or a purple lining of his cape would be rad. I’m personally really digging the golden age design, with the ears reigned in just a tad, and a really practical approach to the belt (ie. Something much closer to a beat cop’s belt, and not an unrealistic streamlined piece with all equal sized compartments). An Art Deco approach overall is what I’d like.

This cowl and that symbol look sooo good.. put that on Affleck's batsuit and you've got a great looking suit:

I caught that, too. Not at all surprising. RP, like all great actor's, communicates so much with his eyes.

Heroic and hopeful:

NOIR:

I rest my case as to why the black works better for this kind of story
