The BATSUIT Thread

For the people that don’t like the first look of the suit, are y’all done with the movie or you all still going to give it a chance? Official still, trailers etc.
Literally every single person complaining is still on board. Come on now...

At the very least, they’re interested enough to still be keeping tabs.

Where's the dislike button?

But do you guys really think Reeves is trying to "out Nolan Nolan"? I really don't see Reeves trying to just redo what was done because there's realism here.

Yeah, I don't think Reeves is trying to out-Nolan Nolan here. This looks nothing like Michael Mann, it feels far more in line with one of Reeves' long rumored influences for this movie- David Fincher's Se7en. This is all very gritty and realistic, sure, but it's also more stylized and gothic in its noir-inspired visuals.

Just look at where this Batman is driving around at! Nolan never went for that sort of look once he was given absolute freedom over Batman post-Begins.

And as @Boom already pointed out earlier, this suit and Batcycle are both clearly made with a far smaller budget than Nolan's Batsuits were. It feels like Bruce is intentionally going for something more low-budget and homemade in this film to better cover his tracks as a suspect.

I like every Batsuit on film, except for Clooney’s and the JL Batfleck suit. When people were complaining about TDK suit I always defended it. Maybe I’m just not fussy with the suits and batcaves...but this Pattinson suit is already shaping up to be my favourite. Everything about this production is giving me good vibes.

It’s a stuntsuit, so I’m taking it with a grain of salt. But it’s already better than the final TDK one, for me. Maybe I’m crazy but I love all the details, the practicality. The pads, gauntlets, chest, collar, belt, straps, pouches. It’s fantastic so far, and will only look better when Rob is wearing the real thing.

If the batmobile is the car version of what this suit represents..I’m gonna be a happy man. This Gotham looks like a atmospheric, gothic city with grounded characters that operate inside a classic detective mystery genre/plot. It’s EXACTLY what I’ve been craving these last few years. More style than Nolan but even more “street level”.

I know, it was a honest question lol some folks are different.

lol, it's a Batman movie. I'll be there the first chance I get. I'm stoked for the movie.

I agree with most of this. At the end of the day, the aesthetics will be what they will be. We all have our personal preferences on how Batman and his world should be visually interpreted onscreen, but part of the fun is how very different we all see it compared to one another- even in the comics! Over the years, I have soured a little on the TDK suit for being noticeably too busy, but it's hardly the worst Batsuit ever and it doesn't detract from the quality of Nolan's films.

Meanwhile Snyder focused on getting more comic accurate Batsuits onscreen, which pleased a lot of fans. It wasn't my thing, but I'll always respect that a ton of other fans were cheering in 2014 when they saw a proper recreation of Frank Miller's Batman in an official photo for a Hollywood blockbuster. But that also didn't exactly save Snyder's films from the reception that they got either.

Personally I dig what Reeves seems to be going for here and have faith in the sort of movie that he's trying to make. As a Batman fan, I feel incredibly excited to see where this heads and how the suit will inevitably develop over the next few films too.

Assuming this is the shape of what the finished cowl will look like, I think it's by far my least favorite aspect of the suit. The ears look fragile, like I could snap them off with my hand. Way too pointy and thin.

If this is the final design of the bat-ears, I can confidently it's the worst one since Adam West.

Somehow they made it look so flimsy and weak looking. Low-key reminds me of:

He also gets knocked off his motorcycle quite easily if you look at the footage. I think this will be a Batman who has some experience but there will be some serious screw ups of his own doing during the movies

In that blurry shot from a distance, yes.
That's how stunt doubles are meant to be seen. In motion, fast cuts, distance. Just compare the Pattinson reveal with the stunt double pics. Really different vibe. Different fit. Of couse we're yet to see Pattinson with ears on, but I believe the difference will be like between TDKR Catwoman stunt double and Hathaway.

I still don't wanna go as to say "low budget" or A24 Batman because stunt suits usually look significantly lower budget.

Greg stated that it was just rehearsal yesterday and today is real filming. So, we might see RP in the Batsuit. After what happened yesterday, WB is probably going get more security guards and we're not going to see anything lol

They're still going to get something lol. It's an extremely open space with a lot of vantage points and ways to sneak in.

Okay then...

I acknowledge that this is a stuntman in a stuntsuit and unofficial pics. And that everything will likely look better when it's actually Pattionson in his own suit, with official pics and story context etc.

But just so far, this thing is horrendous.

Yeah and really this is all we have to judge right now.

While I think it will look better on Pattinson I still know I’m not gonna love it. The things that bug me about the suit are certain design elements and the whole armoured look in general.

I'm not going to lie, I wish they did something different with the cowl. I'm hoping that since its a stunt man, they didn't really put in the same detail of the cowl that we're going to see RP wear. Since the stunt man is just going to be filmed driving really fast past the camera and they're going to CGI the close up shots of RP with the true look of the cowl. Probably going to see the camera like this with RP on the bike later today.image.jpg

I love everything else about the suit!

While A24 films do work with smaller budgets than the big blockbusters, I don't necessarily see that as a negative. Typically I find that A24's best films make a lot more use out of their budgets than most of the big studio films that come out nowadays and it usually works really well in grittier films like what Reeves seems to be going for here.

Hell, just check out the recent trailer for A24's upcoming film The Green Knight. I'd wager it's working with a smaller budget than most other modern film adaptations of Arthurian legend, but it looks way more cinematic than the competition.

So personally, calling this "the A24 Batsuit" doesn't feel like a negative description at all. It just looks really believable and cinematic to me.

A24 did put out a movie call Free Fire which is very underrated! I guess people don't get it's a prototype suit.I'm sure he will get a few upgrades in this movie and the future films:yay:
