The BATSUIT Thread

All this armor talk, I actually didn’t mind the Tactical suit. It’s just the sunglasses that kill it for me. Maybe a tad too “strappy” if I had to nitpick too.

The tactical suit from JL was basically TDK/TDKR's suit on steroids.. and I like that.

The only issue I really have with the whole suit is the sunglasses, they completely kill the suit's overall design. It might have made them more acceptable if they were shown to actually have a tactical use for Batman in the film to something he was directly doing, but they don't.. at least that I can remember.

If they really wanted his eyes covered, for whatever design reason they were going for, they should have made the glasses/lenses a lot sleeker. Perhaps even edging towards the sort of thing that was on the mech suit from BvS in that they're just glowing white eyes.

Agreed. The JL Tactical suit was the perfect opportunity to incorporate some white lenses. Missed opportunity, indeed.

Despite saying that I don't care for the lenses, I really liked them in BVS on the armored suit.
But it's because, beyond being iconic because of Frank Miller's book, this take is more fantastical and tolerate this better. It's also, and more crucially, a scene where Batman only need to looks cool and fight. You'll notice that the moment the story needed him to show some emotions, his helmet broked, and we see his eyes again... How convenient huh ?
This is why I still think the white lenses would be out of place on a regular suit. It looks cool but it's for sure limiting in term of acting.

Now on the JL tactical suit, I agree with the posters above me. It was a missed opportunity. It was meant to be seen in a massive final fight where you just want everything to look awesome. The team behind the scene had all the talents to make it work, they just needed to continue what they did on BvS. But they finally ended up with those weird lady glasses ... Too bad !

Anyway, just for fun, I made a quick manip (yeah another one...) to see what it could have been.
I like it better here. The absence of glasses kind of stripped it visually. And since I've never been a fan of a too militarized/swat Batman...

It's also properly shot and lighted here, where in the actual movie, we know that the majority of this suit scenes had been redone so... It's another topic. :D

tbh... all the batsuits look bleh in anything other than an actually snippet from the film. No suit has looked particularly great in BTS pics and whatnot.

I feel like I should like the Bat-Fleck suits... but there's something off about them and I just never warmed to them.
The BvS suit looks good in most shots but it is so incredibly, awkwardly bulky. It makes Affleck look like a Sasquatch. It is very good but my affection for it has waned somewhat now that the hype of OMG IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE A COMIC BOOK BATSUIT has worn off.

That’s what’s so odd to me. It’s like the two-faced girl Jerry dated on Seinfeld. Sometimes I love the look of the suit and the cowl on Affleck and then sometimes it’s just double-chin central and it looks like he’s got a beer gut.

I understand a big part of the approach they were taking was Miller’s bulky ass Batman in TDKR, but... here’s hoping whoever designs the costumes in The Flash can give Affleck a suit that’s actually a decent fit and a cowl that doesn’t just look good from certain angles.

The JL suit is hideous on every level. The cowl is ugly, the undersuit is cheap looking, the armor on top looks even sillier and way too bulky... and to top off the crap sundae... those goggles... BLEH! Didn’t help that Affleck was overweight at the time and looked pretty bloated and goofy in the suit. What a slap in the face to the beautiful BvS suit that came right before it.

Give me the Kilmer and Clooney Suits over that monstrosity.

I feel like Snyder was trying to evoke Owlman

Everyone's mind turned to "Hey. He looks like Owlman" when the JL suit was revealed.

The torso/upper arms of this suit... it's not a million miles away from Pattinson's, is it? The aesthetic is more or less in the same ballpark. You could swap the armour over between both and both designs would largely work just as well.

The Batfleck one just looks more costume-y. The forms are not something you see in real body armor where as the Pattinson suit looks like it's the high end model manufactured by a riot gear company.

this looks like good concept for Dead Space movie one day.

It’s just a pipe dream, but I think it’d be awesome if his chest insignia actually dispensed batarangs.

Is this the same suit from the trailer? This looks a little bit green.
