The Best Cartoon Series of the last 5 years

The best cartoon series’ ever are probably the 80’s TMNT, Batman TAS, Gargoyles, Ducktales maybe. But this is about the current slew of superhero/sci-fi cartoons. Let’s get started:

1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The best cartoon on tv today. Great character designs, cg. The turtles are actually portrayed as teenagers
2. Sonic Boom
Badass redesigns
3. Green Lantern TAS
Great Show, beautiful cg animation
4. Beware the Batman
5. Pokemon XY
6. Mickey Mouse
7. Ultimate Spider-Man
Honorable Mention: Star War Rebels
This is actually a really good show, the animation is fantastic. It got me excited about Star Wars in a way I haven’t been in a long time, but my kids didn’t really like it so we stopped watching it after about the first 6 or 7 episodes. Children today don’t care about Star Wars, X-Men, or even Batman like my generation used to. The comic book industry has lost a lot of future fans because of their insistence on creating content for adults as apposed to kids. Also, I've been downloading Young Justice lately but I haven't gotten around to watching much of it yet.

I'm a pretty big fan of Regular Show. I'd say that's one of my favorites as of right now. Adventure Time is cool too, but it can grate on my nerves at times.

Star Wars: Clone Wars Saga was really getting good towards the end, until Disney bought Lucasfilm and canned it... I haven't really watched Rebels, so I'm not sure on that one.

Green Lantern: TAS was pretty amazing. I will say I wasn't a huge fan of the type of CGI they used... but they really delivered with the stories/voice actors. As a GL fan, I really enjoyed it.

I'm sure there's more... I just can't think of them. I'll admit, most of my favorite cartoons came from the 90's/early 00's. Ren & Stimpy/Invader Zim/Batman TAS/Spider-Man TAS/Hey Arnold/etc. I guess that's because I grew up with them.

I am a fan of pretty much everything listed here, but nothing comes close to Adventure Time for me. It is as good as television gets imo. TMNT is also fantastic and Sonic Boom is surprisingly hilarious.

Avengers Assemble gets picked as a choice over the vastly superior Avenger's Earth's Mightiest Heroes instead?!?.. what fantasy planet are YOU living on?

Avenger's Earth's Mightiest Heroes was a great show, and probably the 1st cartoon I felt actually was at the level of a DCAU show. Personally I loved that show, but I chose Avengers Assemble over AEMH because its the current ongoing show. The same reason why Beware the Batman is there instead of Batman The Brave and the Bold.

From the poll, I chose Beware the Batman. Very underrated take on the Dark Knight. While not perfect by any means, it lacks some of the weaknesses that even YJ and GL:TAS had.

Overall? It's a difficult three-way tie between Gravity Falls (hilarious writing, an elaborate mystery, interesting plot), Steven Universe (very endearing characters, fascinating lore, downright emotional moments at times) and Rick and Morty (creative sci-fi premises, clever dialogue, strong voice acting).

That isn't to say I don't enjoy the other choices. There's some great stuff that I enjoy. But these three are the best cartoons I've seen in quite a while.
