I'm happy with Zooey if they casting her for Betty.

I love that character and i think Zooey suit up her perfectly.

I really don't remember...someone would have to have all the comics to look. I just really don't think that they would have gone this route since the 60s were a lot more wholesome than today.

Closest thing I could find is wikipedia and the list of comics in Amazing Spider-Man. Peter graduated from high school at issue 28, and apparently dated Betty back in issue 11 and 12 (Bennet Brant story, and the one where Ock kidnaps Betty).

From my understanding Betty was about 4 years older than Peter, or maybe even older.

Isn't the "4 years older" from the TSSM cartoon, and the "even older" from the Ultimate universe?

17 is above the age of consent. The reverse happens all the time.

Not in every state. Some states have 18 as the age of consent. The reverse does happen all the time and I think when college graduates are scoping out high school chicks then they are pathetic and I think it is weird. Take Pineapple Express for example. It was intentionally weird/sad/funny that Seth Rogen was in a relationship with a high school girl.

They may have done it in the comics, I truly don't know. But, I do know that it will be weird on screen. Maybe Stan had an odd fetish for an older woman back in the day.

I would definitely approve of this casting. I keep seeing her suggested for Lois Lane every so often, which I just can't see her working for. But I like her and would love to see her in a comic book movie, and this role seems much better suited to her, imo.

She wasn't like that in the story I read (the Bennet Brant one)! I always assumed she was a high school student who was hired as a secretary temporarily and then was discovered to be the only person that could stand Jonah at that post.

Even though she would be a good choice, I can't help it but to think it would be a waste if she got the role. I mean, why play a minor character (even if 'there's big plans for her') if she can be the lead female lead in another comic book movie instead?

For the record MJ and Aunt May AREN'T the same age, dude.


I do like the idea of Zooey playing Betty but I couldn't help but feel she's being cast because of her previous history with Marc Webb.


And you know how I felt about Emma Stone being cast because of how the studio favoured her as an actress.
