I am thinking she was robbing the cradle. Even the drawings of Betty make her look a lot older than little naive Petey. It is really creepy now that I think about it. They had to have been more than 5 years apart from what I take of it.

Based on drawings. I don't know if they ever gave Betty's age. She wasn't fresh out of high school and Petey was still in high school so me thinks she wanted some tender young meat.

it does say she dropped out of highschool though, i mean that could have been a long time ago, or just recently, but i never thought they looked like they had an age difference, but thats just opinion

Yeah I just read her bio. She had to grow up fast so maybe she just looks older because of the emotional wear on her.

She is hot but she has always looked way older than Peter to me.

In the early 1960's, when Betty and Peter's relationship took place, it was not uncommon for young men and women to take on full time jobs. People in their late teens were generally expected to grow up more quickly and assume more responsibility than following generations have. In the series "Untold Tales of Spider-Man", it is explained that Betty is indeed Peter's age, but had since dropped out of school.

As far as explaining how Betty could be Peter's age or only slightly older in a more contemporary setting...I don't think it would require a huge suspension of disbelief to understand that Betty could have graduated high school but opted not to immediately continue on to college (for whatever reason, to take care of her sick mother, the story line with her brother, Bennet, etc...) and instead take on secretarial duties at the Bugle (which definitely don't require a higher education). Heck, maybe in this contemporary setting, Betty is even taking college classes at night.

Pretty close in resemblance, except for the long hair. Just cut her hair a bit, and she would be perfect as Betty Brant.

BTW,if she did play her,than both of the Deschanel sisters will have been in a Spider-Man movie. Which is win all by its self.
