I thought that was mostly left to Kevin Feige and the MCU at large while Sony just handled the marketing?

Sony does have creative input to the extent they can veto ideas related to Spiderman and how Feige uses the character an MCU film, and those Spiderman characters both studios don't mutually own.

So Sony is not a passive participant in that respect. They also pay the majority of the costs of the production.

Spiderman , for now, is on loan to Marvel.

I know there are fans who have trouble accepting that, but if the whole game of chicken from 2019 taught us anything, it's that Marvel doesn't own Spiderman, yet. It's still a partnership.

Feige doesn't get the last word in that respect, though he does run the creative ship with regards to the development of the films, and Sony has felt comfortable letting him take the reigns .

The thing is don't the rights expire if they don't use Spider-Man? Sony will never not use him and by giving him to Marvel and using his other characters for spinoffs ie Venom, Morbius, etc. They've effectively revitalized the character.

I don't think we'll ever live in a world where Marvel owns the rights. But at least Sony does care somewhat for the character. And wants it to succeed.

I can only say in the event this isn't starting Tobey and Andrew it's because there was too much involvement and input for such a grand concept. Not to mention it's completely unnecessary when lets be honest the character is once again in it's golden ages.

If it does happen, I'm sure it was them giving into the fans finally.

Well, we know they do want a Spider-Verse thing with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to happen given them denying that initial ITSV end-credits scene and saying it was too soon for it.

If No Way Home isn't it, then I'm sure they'll try to make it happen sometime down the line.

If they return what costume do you guys want the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man to have? I hope he has the TASM1 costume because the other one looks too much like Maguire's costume.

Even if they're not in the movie I hope they do some stuff for the 20th anniversary (EEK) of the first movie, that's pretty big. Would be cool to see some new toys from Hasbro or other new merchandise. I think the Fox X-Men toys Hasbro did was in part to commemorate the 20th anniversary of that franchise.

I'd be for a refined version of TASM1 suit for Garfield too for much of the same reason.

I've mentioned this before but I would love to see Andrew rock the PS4 suit.

It would stand out nicely.

That would be amazing, oun intended. It fits that this version of the character is more similar to Andrew's personality and style as Peter. Hell even the voice sounds similar.

What I'm predicting is if they are in this. They'll be "alternate" versions. Not exactly the Raimi and Webb iterations. Simply played by the same actors with suits the evoke such a presence.

As it's already practically confirmed we we won't be getting exact iterations of the

And let's also not forget. There were correct scoops on WandaVision. And early leaks that were real. Not that it's a a bad thing that leaks are getting out less. Keeps the mystery.

But let's not discredit anything just yet. Especially when we have more evidence than not that this is indeed gonna involve the multiverse.

It would be easier to believe it wouldn't if Strange, Molina and Foxx weren't returning in the same film. But honestly now we literally can't know until it's told. And with Falcon and the WS coming out soon. And Black Widow, Shang Chi and more coming before hand. Marvel has more than enough to keep us occupied until Decemeber.

Didn't know GuestStar had hijacked your account. :o

If they're in this, it would be absolutely be pointless for them to be alternate versions that fans have no emotional attachment to, and ones that would require quite a bit of screentime to explain what their deal is. You might as well cast different actors to play Spider-Men that are not from the Raimi and Webb verses, or bring in Miles and Spider-Gwen instead of that perplexing option.

Relaaax. I'm not saying alternate persay but it's somewhat clear if they do want to go this route they want to put the MCU spin on the characters.

That or at the very least a new take. It's clear time has passed inverse even if these are Tobey and Andrew exact characters.

But regardless you can't deny they will change aspects of the costumes and or respective universes

I am relaxed? I was just pointing out how perplexed I was by that argument.

They wouldn't necessarily need to reference every single thing that's happened in their movies for them to be the same versions though. Just confirming that these are the Raimiverse and Webbverse Spider-Men and that would suffice unless they plan to explore in-depth what they've been up to since then.

The announcement is coming soon there it. Counting on a hunch with this one.

I'm actually a bit surprised they're shooting for December 2021 for the film's release given that 2022 imo, would be perfect.

It's the 20th Anniversary of Sony's first film and the 60th Anniversary of Spiderman's debut.

They could have a year long celebration of all things Spiderman much like 1989 was for Batman when it was celebrating it's 50th Anniversary then.

Which is why I still wouldn't mind a delay to summer 2022 if this is truly a multiverse movie. Plus it could give the VFX crew more time to work on the CGI if we see some phenomenally bonkers stuff go down in No Way Home.

Not to be a debbie downer, but hunches can be wrong, so... ^^'

That is completely true. But in a multiverse of madness they can also be right. :cwink:

Ehhhh. For all we know, the multiverse could just be dimensions with eldritch entities and such like Dormmamu in the first Doctor Strange.

Regardless, hopefully we get something substantial sooner rather than much later.

Heck, I could even understand Zendaya because she's popular and fantastic in other unrelated projects, but following Jacob Batalon as well has my eyebrow raised too.
