Infinity War The Black Order

I actually don't think Supergiant can change size (and she's not a giant). Her name probably refers to a supergiant star (just like one of the other guys is Black Dwarf).

Yeah, that's where her name comes from. She's definitely not a giant. And I always get the impression that Proxima Midnight is taller than her.

Most of the Avengers have no chance against the Black Order.

Black Panther alone made Black Dwarf his bi*** and last time I checked the weakest members of the Avengers are Widow, Hawkeye and Falcon. They don't outnumber the other team members who have more powerful skillsets.

I'd say that Proxima Midnight will probably cause a bit of trouble because she could make them fight each other with her telepathic/ mind control abilities. Plus I think she also can cause mental anguish if someone attacks her.

But once they break free of that and take her out of action, then the rest shouldn't be overly difficult to fight.

The order are powerful but I wouldn't say most of The Avengers have no chance against them. As someone else said BP made a show of the Black Dwarf.

Avengers have some heavy hitters now though, Hulk, Thor, Scarlett Witch, Vision would give all of the order individually more than a good fight. Do we know if Captain Marvel is in this yet?

Iron Man, Giant Man and Drax could probably hold their ground as well, maybe even Cap and Spidey.

I just hope the black order have decent sized roles.

I think Carol Danvers is in the first one but isn't Captain Marvel until the second. Not sure that's been fully confirmed though.

After two films with tons of cannon fodder for the team to fight (nothing wrong with that but it's the truth) I heartily welcome a proper team of villains with their own powers and abilities for the Avengers to match their mettle against.

Ah okay, thanks

Agreed, i cant wait for the team to face a proper challenge, and then on top of that they have to face Thanos as well.

I think there probably will still be cannon fodder for them to fight, but just in addition to the Black Order. It will probably be like that Masters of the Universe movie where Skeletor had his group of evil warriors with individual personalities and powers, and also his horde of black stormtroopers. I think it's the best way like this.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if there are still some minor mooks; they just won't be the only other thread besides the main villain like in the first two movies.

I wonder, will the Black Order be more of Thanos "children" like Gamora and Nebula? It sounds like he won't be pursuing that plot point in Guardians vol. 2, but I remember when the first movie came out, James Gunn mentioned that Thanos had many other children, some of whom were worse than Nebula.

I think that might be the route they go. I can believe Thanos trusting his most loyal children to get the job done for him. They are more reliable than some army like the Chitauri.

Even with Thanos saying fine I'll do it myself, the children helping makes sense.

I think I just deduced something from Terry Notary's quote and the revelation that the Black Order will be Thanos' children.

"I’m working with Josh Brolin and three other actors [in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War], and I’m playing Josh Brolin’s right-hand bad guy in the film."

We know that Marvel is only bringing 4 of 5 Black Order members to the big screen. So which ones will they be?

Well, we now know they are his children so I think that should eliminate Ebony Maw. The character is an old alien who acts as Thanos' adviser at times, and I don't see either of those traits in a child of Thanos.

So I'm thinking it will just be Corvus Glaive, Super Giant, Black Dwarf and Proxima Midnight.

It seems your theory was right.

Corvus Glaive Vs Scarlet Witch
Proxima Midnight Vs Vision
Black Dwarf vs Black Panther
Hulk Vs Supergiant

All at the same time!

I'm really happy that they included TBO in this IW.
It's nice to have a second layer of villains to go through and not only one big threat. This will help the movie and will give the heroes more to do... TBO is gonna wreck house at first but it's gone be awesome to see which matchups happens and who can team up and stand a chance agains them. I hope there's some serious team work.

We still have some heavy hitters on the team.

You guys think all of these members of the Black Order will be in the movie? With so many heroes in this movie there should be pretty of villains for The Avengers to fight other than
Thands.

Corvus Glaive
Supergiant
Ebony Man
Black Dwarf
Proxima Midnight
Outriders

I think both Avengers and AoU suffered from having the big bad and then just an identical mindless drone army. It's better that there are layers within that structure and lieutenants with personality and different powers/mannerisms.

Exactly. In AOU it was very noticeable... Because by the end it was just Ultron posing a real threat. At least in the first Avengers they we're still learning to fight together and while Loki was the main bad there where still some difficult enemies like the "leviathans" to get rid of...

Better to have the main villain, then a few lieutenants and then some minions as cannon fodder.
We gotta even things out a bit and give everyone more to do in different hard fought battles leading to the big finale.

Yup. A key part of the problem is the drones never felt like anything other than a momentary distraction. There's no peril or sense of danger because even the weakest Avengers pull them apart like wet toilet paper.

Yes. I would rather the armies were lesser in number and even the lowest unit was more of a threat so the likes of Hawkeye and Widow would have to put up a serious fight against them. And the lieutenants would need the bigger hitters to get involved. The chitauri and drones seemed like a job the army or even the police could have dealt with on their day off.

Yep :csad:

I don't follow comics, but would the Black Order draw comparisons to the Ringwraiths of LOTR?

I wouldn't complain in the least if that happened - despite having little to no dialogue the Ringwraiths were genuinely threatening and otherworldy. Hopefully Silvestri can come up with a memorable theme for them.
