Inception made over $825 million worldwide. Batman and the Joker were not in it.

Funny how people keep forgetting about Inception. That was the real litmus test of Nolan's popularity and he passed. TDKR will make a helluva lot of money. Maybe not quite as much as the Avengers in the long run, but this thing isn't gonna flop.

Yeah, people do forget how much Inception made. Like Cameron, Nolan's a brand now. That will become even more evident come July 20th.

Exactly.

IIRC, TDK didn't have any mention of Nolan in the trailer. TDKR does. The dude sells. :)

saw the trailer today at the avengers and im just not feeling it this time. i got the chills when i fist saw the joker but soo far im not really impressed.

Where's the article/link about the accurate ticket sale numbers?

It can get pretty tricky because you have to account for the average 2D and 3D/IMAX ticket price separately then apply that to the percentage of money that was made from those formats. If you don't account for it the # of tickets sold will skew higher if 3D/IMAX accounted for a greater percentage.

I'm watching Begins right now. First time in a few years. Damn, I forgot how good this picture is....how young Bale looks in comparison to the images in the Rises' trailer. Startling.

While i do love begins...my only gripe with it is that the villians are literally non existent at times cuz of the main fact that the story is so bruce driven

I wouldn't. :funny: They would tear you to shreds right now and call you a jealous Batfan or Nolanite because of that correction.

Precisely, a few Marvel fans are acting like The Avengers completely blew TDK out of the water in ticket sales and midnight numbers, yet that's not the case.

22.2m vs 22m in ticket sales
18.7m vs 18.5m in midnight gross

Those numbers are razor close, so I really am having trouble understanding Iron Stark's point here about TDKR not being able to build on TDK's crowd.

The point is you get one jump in audience growth for a film like TDK or Avengers and then you reach saturation. For TDKR to beat Avengers numbers it would have to reach a point where the theaters probably couldn't handle the volume of business. Not only that, but you reach saturation with the number of people willing to watch it in the first place.

The midnight gross is meaningless. Avengers is in May where midnight showings don't do very well compared to other times of the year. Avengers made up those numbers in the following days.

You are exaggerating what Marvel fans are doing and the fact is TDK fans did the same thing back in 2008.

You need to get over yourself. Same with Anita, who pulled this same kind of crap with IM2.

Someone sure sounds ********...:o

There's so much presumption, I hope TDKR does break records just to see how everyone reacts.

Come on guys we can have civil discussion without resorting to namecalling, sarcastic or not.

Exactly.

'From Director Christopher Nolan' sells films now. They will definitely use his name to promote 'Man of Steel' and any future film he's associated with.

Lol, I highly doubt they'll be using from "the visionary director of 300 and Watchmen".

Batman Begins is killing me right now. This argument that Nolan's Bat films are too gritty and realistic and not fun needs to stop. Begins is ridiculous...but in a great way.

I just forgot how this film rolls. This thing sings.

Someone sure sounds ********...:o
Someone sure does, if even I don't remember pulling whatever crap I did on IM2. :funny:

And hey, you're coming into our house, we've decided not to come into yours for a reason. :cwink:

If you're there yet do you still view the tumbler chase scene the same way. Most of the one liners in that almost kills it for me.

The Tumbler sequence just finished and it still works like gangbusters, even with the one liners. Every shot and edit is money.

Awesome obsevation after the sequence; the Tumbler always gets a nice wash when it goes in and out of the Batcave. Got to keep it looking pretty.

I'm going to cry in Rises. Watching this youthful Wayne in this film is in stark contrast to the images in the Rises trailer. Nolan has put Wayne through the **** in these three films.

Bale being able to transform from male model to homeless man with ease certainly helps.

What's even better; Joffery from Game of Thrones is in this film. I love it.

You were probably like me and everyone else and criticized it for not being a good enough follow up to the first.

....for you....
