Someone sure does, if even I don't remember pulling whatever crap I did on IM2. :funny:

And hey, you're coming into our house, we've decided not to come into yours for a reason. :cwink:

This isn't "your house", that isn't "my house". These are public forums people are free to post if they feel like it.

Oh and "butt hurt" .......what are we 12? I'm not the one curled up in the fetal position because one movie made more than another, and I wasn't in 2008 either, and should TDKR get the record I won't then either.

I think everyone here has conceded that Rises can't get the record. So, what's the problem?

The midnight gross is meaningless?

....for you....

You can't compare a midnight gross for a movie in May to one in July. You could compare TDK's and Potter's midnight.

I said before release and you can look it up if you don't believe me, that I only thought Avengers would do around 13-15M, (basically an IM2 type midnight with 3D boost), because May was a bad time for midnight showings because the primary demographic for those showings are in school preparing for finals.

By the way, just finished Begins. 7 years later, it still freaking kills. One of the best origin films EVER!

The point is you get one jump in audience growth for a film like TDK or Avengers and then you reach saturation. For TDKR to beat Avengers numbers it would have to reach a point where the theaters probably couldn't handle the volume of business. Not only that, but you reach saturation with the number of people willing to watch it in the first place.

The midnight gross is meaningless. Avengers is in May where midnight showings don't do very well compared to other times of the year. Avengers made up those numbers in the following days.

You are exaggerating what Marvel fans are doing and the fact is TDK fans did the same thing back in 2008.

You need to get over yourself. Same with Anita, who pulled this same kind of crap with IM2.

:lmao:

Do you know how petty you sound right now?

200m on OW was a tremendous accomplishment. No one is denying that. However, fans are making it seem that The Avengers demolished TDK in ticket sales. It didn't. Other the OW gross, these numbers have been razor close, and TDK was released four years ago with half the number of screenings TDKR will enjoy.

So you have to understand my critique over your statement that there's no way TDKR can match or surpass The Avengers' audience/crowd attendance. TDK and Inception made Nolan a brand name domestically and internationally. Trust me, there isn't going to be a drop for TDKR.

You said people would jump on you on the Avengers board, when infact myself and several others defended that you were not a troll when some people said you were trolling. In fact you gave a good review of the film.

I know there is one obnoxious idiot, who will remain nameless, that is a noob and I believe has been warned by the mods already for trolling. The regulars on the Avengers board have told him to knock it off already.

That stuff is going to happen, but to pretend that we are going and bashing TDK/TDKR fans because Avengers broke the record.....not true.

If I think I know who you're referring to I believe C. Lee just gave him an extended break.

Sorry above post was in response to DoomsdayApex not J.Howlett.

Of course the forums are public, but to come into a TDKR board, you really shouldn't be surprised by what we're saying here. And you could very well argue with us until you're blue in the face and it wouldn't really change anyone's opinion.

And the uber-troll we were originally referring to I think was from YouTube, so who cares about him anyway. :oldrazz:

Oh yeah, I'm not denying it. This kinda of stuff tends to happen here from time to time too, and it's getting beyond irritating. I'm sick of the flame wars.

That is correct. I gave The Avengers a positive review and it's definitely on my All-Time Top Five list. I still hope to give a full review but I'm being honest, the last time I was visiting the Avenger boards, I walked in on two flame wars. So I retreated into Batboards. And when things get hairy here, I take a mini vacation lol.

But it looks like Avengers did outsell TDK in terms of actual tickets. In the long run, it'll probably be closer.

And yes, even with inflation factored in, the film sold more tickets over its opening weekend than any other film ever (26.5 million tickets, about 3.5 million more than “The Dark Knight”).

That's cool bro. Anyway I don't want to derail this thing anymore than it has been.

I think it will be close. Ticket sales are another thing that's hard to compare. I believe the no 1 ticket seller of all time is Gone With the Wind, and that was a totally different era.

However with movies recently there has been a downward trend in ticket sales. Mostly because of things like Netflix, Xfinity, and HDTV being affordable to consumers, and often times more budget friendly to families than taking a family of 4 to the movies.

It's a conflicting article. Other sites are stating the numbers are alot closer to 22.2m than 26m, so I'm not sure who to believe at this endeavor. It's apparently 'confirmed' by both sides.

Yeah, I believe that too. It'll probably closer than we think.

Mendelson wrote that article on Sunday and revised it yesterday after the actuals came in. He loves doing the math on box offices.

Awesome. Another Scott Mendelson reader.

I wonder, does one actually get paid to preform those calculations? I personally am not a fan of math so I know I'd loath to gather these results in order to get a sum.

I doubt it takes that long. He bases all off of previous films of similar nature or previous entries in the series. You can write a program for it or he has excel where he just punches a number in and it'll give him a range etc.
