I knew that...was busy doing stuff, though.

we needs a new brain teaser

Riddle #41:

A certain bacterium divides into two identical bacteria every minute, as does the newly formed bacterium. A single bacterium is placed in a beaker at midnight. At noon the next day, the beaker is full. At what time was the beaker half-full of bacteria?

11:59

Noon is at 12:00 rigth?

one minute after it is half full.

Darn, I was hoping this one would last for a little while.

Wow...thread hasn't gone anywhere since I left :csad:

Riddle #42:

You find yourself at the centre of an island that is one mile long and 100 yards wide. The vegetation is very dry from a long drought. Suddenly it catches fire at one end of the island, and a strong wind starts to blow it towards you. As the fire spreads it burns the whole width of the island. There's no beach, only sheer cliffs, and the sea is infested with sharks.

What can you do to save yourself?

start burning (controled fire) the other side... then move into the save ashes.

I...and this is just me, but I, I would wake up...the riddle just sounds like a bad dream to me.

Riddle #43

A girl who was just learning to drive went down a one-way street in the wrong direction, but didn't break the law. How come?

This makes no sense to me

The wind is blowing the fire in a single direction. If you light a fire on your other side, it will blow in the same direction as the first fire towards the end of the island. Then you can walk into the already burnt part and the original fire won't be able to get to you because the fuel is gone.

Riddle #44:

The rope ladder of a boat hangs over the side of the boat and just reaches the water. Its rungs are 8 inches apart.

How many rungs will be under the water when the tide rises 4 feet?

None, because as the tide rises, so will the boat. The distance between the top of the ladder and the water will stay the same.

Riddle #45:

A traveler arrives in a small town and decides he wants to get a haircut. According to the manager of the hotel where he's staying, there are only two barbershops in town — one on East Street and one on West Street. The traveler goes to check out both shops. The East Street barbershop is a mess, and the barber has the worst haircut the traveler has ever seen. The West Street barbershop is neat and clean; its barber's hair looks as good as a movie star's.

Which barbershop does the traveler go to for his haircut, and why?

^The messy one because since there is only 2 in town the barber's go to each other for haircuts.
The neat one is crap at it, the messy one is good at it.
