You are walking down a cave when you come to two doors guarded by two guards. One door leads to paradise, and the other instant death. One of the guards always lies, and the other always tells the truth. The guards are identical, and you cannot tell which guard is which. At your disposal is the ability to ask one guard one question. No more, no less. What is the one question you mya ask both guards, and figure out which door is which?

NOTE - Anyone who has seen the movie Labirynth, please do not answer

I'd ask an obvious question like, What color shirt do i have on? Since one guard will lie to me..I'll know whos telling the truth and whos lying:woot:

Yes, but you have wasted your question. You get no more.

You are not trying to find which guard is which, you're trying to find out which door is paradise and which is death.

I've heard a similar riddle like this before and I think I now remember the answer but I won't say anything yet

You can pm it to me, and I'll tell you if its right (since you do want to say here).

There's still a spot for a riddle open, right?

Riddle #22:
You are lost in the woods, and a blizzard is starting. Luckily you happen to find an abandon cabin just as the storm begins tearing through the area. Inside the cabin you find an oil lamp with very little fluid, a large pile of wood next to a fireplace, and plenty of food in the kitchen to cook on the wood stove.

You check you pockets but find only a single match.

What do you light first?

the match

If that is the answer, wow. I feel bad that I didn't think of it.

1

None of the others were travelling to St. Ides.

Heh. I was thinking about doing that one too. :word:

your answer is the generally accepted answer, but is not technically correct.

Would the other answer be 2,403

7 X 7 = 49

49 X 7 = 343

343 X 7 = 2401

2401 + 2 = 2403

I think "1" is the proper answer.

Guess that means we have my guard one and an open spot.

my preferred answer is 0

"kits, cats, sacks, wives. how many were going to st. ides."

none of the kits cats sacks wives were going to st ides, so...0

but 1 is generally accepted as correct.

Riddle #23:

Three men on a business trip stop at a small hotel one night to get out of the weather. Drenched in rain, they each order a room. The manager charges them $10 each and has the bellboy take their bags up.

A few minutes later the manager, feeling sorry for the soaked trio, decides to give them a refund. He gives the bellboy $5 to give back to the three men. The men are happy about the money, but can't figure out how to split $5 three ways. So they each take a dollar and give the bellboy a $2 tip.

If each man paid $10 and got $1 back, then they each paid $9 for a total of $27. The 2$ tip to the bellboy brings the total to $29. But the manager charged them $30.

Where did the missing dollar go?

Answered:
Once the manager gave them a refund, they were no longer charged $30. The manager was actually charging them $8.33333..., for a total of $25. Add in the three dollar refund and two dollar tip, and it comes to $30.
