The Amazing Spider-Man The Changed Origin

How will the writers explain Peter surviving the Spider bite?

  • It won't be explained, and will be left as a plot hole.

  • They will reveal later on in a sequel that Peter actually was experimented on.

  • His origin will remain accidental, and in the future turn into a "Man-Spider."

  • Other (please post)

Can't it add to Peter's random **** luck? It was **** luck that he got bit in the first place, it could of been Gwen, Connors, Norman, or just some random scientist. But it was him, and he, somehow, survived. It doesn't need to be explained. It's luck!

I still like to theorize about it.

so many good theories in this thread! please keep going. :D

I also want to theorize about who broke into the Parker home in the beginning of TASM, and what that person was after. It definitely had to do with Norman Osborn. Maybe Richard Parker had the formula for the symbiote (cure for cancer), but he refused to release it since he knew there were consequences... a.k.a. the creation of Venom. So Norman had someone break in to steal it. Richard had to leave quickly to make sure the formula does not get out, and fakes his death to make sure that Peter's life is not put in danger.

like i said earlier maybe Richard hid the formula in the spiders DNA and it adapted to spider DNA (obviously) so when the spider bit Peter the venom was replaced with some kind of Sucessful serum:wow:

Why would Richard hide the secret to cross species genetics in spiders that were kept in Oscorp? That's like me hiding meth in a police station.

maybe in a way that they can´t find it , maybe is there but they don´t know
how to crack it :oldrazz:
but i hope they come up with something smarter than the crazy theory like mine

I don't think he hid a formula in spiders and kept them at Oscorp...

Plus spiders have a short life span...the ones Richard would have experimented on would be dead. OSCORP would obviously still be genetically engineering those spiders as its one of their products.

Though if these spiders were bred in a specific way, their life span could be extended by an unknown period of time. After all, this is science fiction.

Or maybe those spiders were the offspring of the spiders Richard was dealing with.

In 10 years...no OSCORP employee ever again tested a spider? It's likely he hid the code in himself and passed it to Peter or in Peter. The formula he had written down in his notes obviously didn't work...that could have been on purpose.

I think the best explanation is that the formula does not work when injected, only when it is passed on when the spider bites a human.

And the reason why the formula for Connors did not work was because it was meant for Spiders, not reptiles.

Of course Peter should have died, or gotten very ill, from such a spider bite, and not gotten superpowers. It's a superhero movie, so it's a genre trope that Peter gets superpowers. Just embrace the trope and move on. Don't hint that you're going to explain it and then leave it dangling. That's just clumsy filmmaking.

It'll be left unexplained. The line should have been cut right out.

We don't know that it won't be answered in the future. And if it isn't, its just a plot hole. You can say that Nolan is a lousy filmmaker because of all the plot holes in TDKR then.

^ Huh. I didn't even mention TDKR; in fact I haven't even seen it yet. If it turns out to have plot holes I'll critique them too and call them sloppy filmmaking. It doesn't excuse TASM's sloppiness to point out that another movie may or may not be just as sloppy.

I didn't say it is supposed to "excuse" TASM's sloppiness. The point is that many movies have sloppy plot holes, but it doesn't mean the film is bad overall.

Maybe Norman will realize what the spider has done to Peter and use one of them to cure him. But since each spider is unique, it will end up turning him into a Goblin.

I also like how you explain that the decay rate algorithm was for spiders, and did not translate well for reptilians. :D

I love your theories/explanations!!! And who knows, if Sony ever decides to go the Miles Morales route, they could (since there is a whole room full of spiders).

That's a good way of looking at it! After watching the show LOST, I love to theorize about movies and shows I watch!

Spider biting a human, and passing on its DNA giving the human some of its qualities... its cross-species. However, that is true, they only inject subjects with the serum, and do not let them get bitten by spiders.
is it bad that i felt a little lost after watching "LOST" lol ?

It's not Peter Parker; it's Ben Reilly. Thats why he didn't change, it's not the original DNA :p

You can't have something already in your DNA structure if you're experimented on. The people who keep saying that Peter was experimented on have no idea what they're talking about.

Yeah, but I expect general audience to just go with it. They have already accepted that a human got the abilities of a spider, and that another person turned into a giant Lizard creature from a serum. It is a movie after all.

I don't wanna see sg like the MAN-SPIDER ever in these movies! At this point I really dont care 'bout teh bite!
