Heh, I work 3rd shift at Wal-Mart and we had our nightly meeting and they made us watch this video on ABC with our Wal-Mart corporate spokeswoman. She announced that Wal-Mart would be banishing the title 'Holiday Shop' to the traditional 'Christmas Shop'. Likewise, we're not allowed and encouraged to tell our customers 'Merry Christmas' instead of the generic, politically correct 'Happy Holidays'. When asked if we'd say 'Happy Kwanza' or any of the other holidays for other cultures, she said it's all up to which associate you speak to, it's all up to them.
After it was all said and done, people were at extremes; they were overly happy or extremely pissed. Not surprising at all, those pissed were SP's and those happy were traditionalists, 8 times out of 10.
When did Christmas become so politically charged? What's next? Easter under seige? I can see it now, "Happy Egg Day". So uneccesary.
Ugh.
