For the record, this is one big rant against the unending wave of unfunny, uninspired spoof films which is capped off with the least inspired of the bunch. Although The Comebacks wasn't written by those two jackoffs who did Date Movie or Epic Movie, it proves how disturbingly easy it can be to get something this s***ty greenlit today. Oh, a guy does a touchdown victory dance when a bus runs him over on the football field. ha ha, oh, funny, stop me from wetting myself. What pisses me off the most is the fact that most of these hacks don't really GET spoof films and what makes the best ones work like Mel Brooks' early stuff, not to mention Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's stuff. Simply put, the best spoofs DON'T try to recreate clips from a whole bunch of other movies then try to pass it off as a complete movie cause' that s*** doesn't work. The best ones work when they focus their attentions on the CLICHES from the genre the movie is spoofing. Compare Scary Movie to Shaun of the Dead and you'll quickly see the difference. So, if you're gonna see a movie this weekend, see something other than The Comebacks and if you see anyone, preferably, teen dudes, with ticket stubs for said movie, feel free to slap those twits silly. I realize that there is an audience for this crap, but there's also audiences for Pro-Nazi movements, so best way to save these kids is sit them down and make them watch the GOOD spoof comedies repeatedly. It's for their own good.

I agree 100%

But, unfortunately, it will succeed because, for some unexplainable reason, there are SO many idiots who find this crap legitimately funny. It's sickening.

I thought this was going to be funny because of Koechner, but I saw the trailer and it didn't look that good (except that part where they threw the cheerleaders heh)
But hey, to each his/her own.

The only spoof I'm watching is "Walk Hard" which is going to be MILES above this, I'm sure.

walk hard has potential . i think you have to be ******ed to laugh at the comebacks . i'd be embarassed if i was involved in the making of the film .

I hope 30 Days of Night rips its boxoffice nutsack off.:cmad:

Same here, I usually love him in whatever he does (even that show he had on Comedy Central wasn't too bad with him), but I just couldn't bring myself to even giggle at the trailers I've seen so far. Though I guess the Radio spoof was kind of funny though.

As for stopping the movie, it's not going to happen. These movies cost very little to make and are almost guaranteed to make their money back and then some. All you can do is stick your fingers in your ears, close your eyes and pretend it's not their.

I remember seeing a bit on the commercials of the coach screaming to the referees "What are ya, blind?!" and then cutting to the ref's with walking sticks and seeing-eye dogs and emitting a single laugh. The rest was S**T. :down

If this movie makes any money, I fear I will weep.

I have a friend who actually liked all the Scary Movies, and Date Movie, and even he thinks this movie looks incredibly ******ed...They already did a sports movie parody/comedy anyway, it was called The Replacements, starred Keanu Reeves, and was much better than this could possibly be.

I liked the Scary Movies and the Airplanes and the Naked Guns,I'll probably like this but this kinda looks like a Weird Al video.

Agreed.

Honestly I just kept telling myself people aren't really that dumb that they keep going to see these kind of movies...boy talk about lying to myself. I hate to say but I would say a majority of people who go to the movies are basically dolts. I worked in a videostore and it just blows my mind how ignorant people are who rented movies there. It seemed everyday I would get at least one customer who would be asking for a movie and they couldn't even pronounce the title or looking for a movie they couldn't even describe a little. Am I being a prick here or is my perception of the general population accurate here when it comes to movies?

But Shaun of the dead, Scary movie 3, and scary movie 4 all suck.

Wow. Do you have incredibly bad taste, or what?

If you can even begin explain what's funny about Shaun of the Dead I'll stand down. It's like watching a british comedy. Which aren't funny except... to british people. Maybe you have bad taste.

I'm pretty sure this movie will blow in the box office. I think the main competition will be between 30 Days of Night and Rendition.

You need to have a very....special taste in order to hate "Shaun of the Dead"

I don't hate it. Nothing against. I just don't care for it. I'mpretty sure there are a lot of people who do and don't care for it. It only made 30 million world wide. It's not The Titanic, Donny Brasco, the Prestige, ect. But then again, being a spoof movie, it never could attain that status by default.

I don't care for Shaun of the Dead. I know my brother loves that movie and even showed it to me. He was laughing at every scene. At most, I just chuckled. It's kind of funny, but not hilarious. I heard Shaun of the Dead is better than Hot Fuzz, though. So obviously, I never saw Hot Fuzz.

I wasn't a Shaun of the Dead fan either. It's got some humorous moments, but I wasn't like, oh this **** is brilliant. It's just not my type of comedy. I like dramas and action flicks, but I like my comedy straight stupid for the most part, not subtle. That's my goofy dude side and my film buff side co-existing.

I haven't seen Hot Fuzz yet either. I also hear the movie Black Sheep is supposed to be like Shaun of the Dead. Which I'll admit, Shaun of the Dead had me chuckling during a few parts, but from the preview I saw of black sheep I couldn't even begin to attempt to give it a chance. Even for a spoof movie it seems over the top like how the Comebacks will be, and how Epic movie was.

The thing is, teenagers go watch this stuff. They have the most disposable income, so studios will often look to them for the most profit. There are a handful of the 12-18 year old group that are into seriously good movies, but most of them are just out looking to goof around.

True. But what happened to the actual funny goofy spoofs like Scary movie 1 and 2, I'm gonna git you sucka, Not another teen movie, Don't be a menace, and the naked gun films?

Those were targeted towards teens too, right?

Shaun and Hot Fuzz each have their moments , they aren't the funniest but still light years beyond epic and date movie. The comebacks will only do well because of the 13 years olds and people who think this is a national lampoon movie.
