"The Comebacks" cannot be allowed to succeed

i thought not another teen movie and scary movie 1 and 2 were funny

Wow, the trailer was incredibly unfunny. Schindler's List trailer had more comedy.

especially when the kid walks out and gets hit by a bus , in the middle of the field ??????? if anyone laughs at that they should be slapped

i didnt like shaun of the dead either. i didnt think it was funny at all, at which point it just becomes a bad rip off of dawn of the dead.

I think some fanboys are just predisposed to automatically think anything from the UK is supposed to be the bee's knees. Why I said bee's knees I don't know.

I miss the days of The Naked Gun :csad:

All zombie movies are a rip off of another zombie movie. I mean, there really isn't much to do with the genre aside from a group of people running from an army of zombies and eventually barricades themselves in somewhere. That is pretty much the plot to all zombie movies.

I liked Shaun of the Dead. It wasn't as brilliant as some people act, but it had some moments that made me chuckle and was an interesting, light hearted take on the genre.

I agree seuan of the dead was good but I dont consider it a spoof, moreso a comedy about zombies.I think not another teen movie was ok but it could have been done a bit better.epic and this crap need to stop.

Went to see this last night. The theatre was full of brats, basically. Strangely, the movie was somewhat coherent and reminded me more of the older Naked Gun/Airplane types than the current Epic/Date movie crap. Part of that probably had to do with Koechner's comedic ability, though. It wasn't good, but it was better than the more recent ones.

tna had a tie in with this movie by "sponsoring" the comeback of glen gilberti aka disco inferno

:wow:

^Yes, that is in the movie...the parody of Stick It. She does a lot of bizzare double jointed stuff. :o

o my gosh this is awesome, my Galaxy isnt even showing it

There *is* a god.

This debuted at number 6 at the box office. REJOICE!

Scary Movie was okay. Each and every, "spoof-movie," after that sucked. Hard.

So, this picture only cranked out a measely 5.8 million bucks in it's opening weekend. I'd be doing a naked pagan dance of joy right now if only I knew exactly how much they squandered on this poop. I can only speculate, from judging by other ill-fated spoofs like Date Movie which only cost 20 million to squeeze outta their asses. So, if that's the case with Comebacks, I can imagine that this film will probably barely break even in the end. A minor victory in the continuing war against mediocrity. You can call be a snob, an old fart, a relic, I don't care. When it comes to silly, I just know what works and what doesn't.

-So sayeth the mastermind-

In my personal opinion, The first and third Scary Movies were the best. Lots of people gave the third one flack cuz it was PG-13. I gave it credit because managed to incorporate more genres than the previous two films and managed to actually weave all the different story elements together pretty coherently. There weren't too many distracting references either as everything seemed to contribute to the story.

Not Another...was worth enough laughs to warrant occasional re-viewing on late night comedy central.

But Date movie was where I drew the line. Everything felt so crammed in and pointless. Plus, the story sucked. Yes, even these POS' have storylines, skeletons of random cliche's, popcult references and potty humor though they may be. Maybe that's why I hated it so much? Come to think of it, that could also be why I loathed Epic Movie as well. I suppose if I were a huge enough fan of the Narnia books (whose plot it fundamentally stole) I might have enjoyed it quite a bit, though admitting it wasn't great.

I put this in another thread about "Meet The sPartans" but it's just as poignant(sP?) here...

These jagoffs can't even make a decent parody. All they do is randomly throw together pop culture references that have nothing to do with the film and water down any semblance of cliche'd storylines they've admittedly stolen. A good sPoof is supposed to liken one idea to another emphasizing on similarities and contrasts or point out the faults in the body of work it mimics. They do none of that. They just make jokes that appeal to twelve year old boys.

What's the line of reason behind "We about to stomp the yard!"? That Robin Hood: Men in Tights showed us that burley men dancing is funny? Or is it just to use lines that are already dated and will be completely forgotten by society in two years?

And don't forget this train of thought , "Hmm...golly that Britney sPears is a weird one. We should totally stick it to her somehow because that's what everybody in America wants to see! It worked with our hysterical Paris Hilton-getting-crushed-by-falling-black-girl joke, so let's kick her down the well!"

The real irony is that 300 was a movie SO CHOCKED FULL of things to make fun of and the only jokes they give in the trailer are about hip hop dance movies and Britney's mental state. Bravo. v_v

when i saw the preview for scary movie 3 and didnt crack a smile i knew it was over from there.
