Thank God... it's over...

I've been working with Eric Gillette (SHH user Samruby) of www.samruby.com (which is WITHOUT A DOUBT the BEST Spidey site out there), and he's been upgrading his cover scans to look much sharper and better than ever... so for those spots with red X's, I'll be editing them as he changes them.

And once more, I'd like to give Eric my eternal gratitude for using his cover scans sans permission, but since he's such a great guy, I know he doesn't mind... :cwink: :yay:

Nonetheless, without his site and covers, the 3 Countdown threads for all 3 Spidey Movies would never have been possible.

So thanks Eric... you're one of the few good guys left. :word:  :word:

And thanks to all of you viewers of this thread... because if I didn't think any of you were checking it out, it might not have been so much fun in posting them.

And finally, special thanks goes to iloveclones for posting the covers while I went on a long-overdue vacation last December, as well as to Thewifeofbat for posting them while I was unecessarily put on probation a few months back by the powers that be...

Thanks clonesy, and thank you honey...

And finally... enjoy the movie everybody...

Cheers...

TMoB

Congratulations. I imagine this is something that started off very easy with 1 cover a day, and got progressively harder and more time-consuming as you got through the double and then single digits. Well, now you can finally relax.

Thanks very much for this TMOB, I've been watching this thread ever since it started and it's certainly made the countdown a lot easier! :D

Thanks again!

Neat little countdown, I almost can't believe it's already here. It doesn't seem very long ago that you started this thread with the issue from "The Other". Time really does go by fast.

Thanks TMOB, what a great thread!

Ok... I know there are "zero" issues out there, but I'm not going to bother.

However, I will post this one last cover... the most IMPORTANT cover of all time in Spidey lore.

Enjoy the movie everybody... :word: :word: :word:

Cheers... :yay:

This thing needs to be on the first page...

Any thoughts on the movie from my regular comic cover viewers?

:yay:

My review after seeing it the first time...

While I shared many of the minor complaints of my fellow SHHype posters, as time has gone on, the more I realize it was an absolutely fantastic movie. Maybe not on par with Spidey 2 (which was beyond terrific), but a good solid movie nonetheless.

And the reason I feel it was rushed in the begining was that we had already seen the first 35 minutes of the movie compacted in the 7 minute preview seen a month earlier. Once we got beyond that, it went along nicely. And this was definitely Tobey Maguire's movie and his moment to shine. He played a better Peter Pecker in this movie than he did in Spidey 2 (where he was just a tad too overdramatic).

Nice touches in the movie... Peter Parker coming on to Betty Brant, J.Jonah Jameson screaming for "Parker" during the fight scenes (wondering where his star photographer was), etc...

I also like the fact that practically every actor since movie One makes reappearances in some way... gives the whole trilogy a nice sense of connection & continuity.

4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

And after the second viewing, I liked it even more. :word: :word: :word:

Well, I loved it. I never really liked Tobey for Peter (too whiny for me), but I love when he turns into Spider-emo. I was surprised at how much I (again) enjoyed the villains, especially Topher Grace. He was a real surprise, because, frankly, I wasn't expecting much of him (never a big fan of Venom either). My favorite moment of the film came after he "killed" Sandman. I turned to my girlfriend and said, "Do you know how he defeated him the first time in the comics? With a vacuum cleaner." It just seemed so ridiculous to say it out loud, almost like a punchline to a bad joke.

I think they tried to jam too much in one movie. Any scene where villains team-up always come across as really hokey to me. I would rather them stick with one main villain as the centerpiece story. Spidey has such a great Rogue's gallery that could be used in opening scenes or montages. I mean, who really wants to see a whole movie of the Shocker. Or Hammerhead. Or the Scorpion? But a scene or two? That's be cool. I would love to see a scene of a Spider-Slayer with Jonah's face chasing him around. But not for a whole movie.

Although I've liked giving the villains some depth, it worked especially well for Doc Ock and Sandman, I would really like to see a movie where the villain was just balls to the wall, take over the world, nasty and evil. Amp up Electro and let him just completely go to town.
