The Critics' Reviews of Spider-Man 3 Thread

Let me show people who arn't aware the time when they are finished putting all the reviews on RT

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/spiderman_3/

On this page, right below where the bar containing the % is, a Critical Consensus will show, basically summarising what the general consensus from all the critics will be. For SM:3 it will be something like, 'Great Special Effects and Action, but an overstuffed movie'. When something along those lines appear, that is the final RT score.

Hope that's cleared everything up

The film has more than double the number of negative reviews as SM2, and there is still plenty of reviews to come in.

lol, it's not looking good...*cue the Hulk TV series walking away music*

I've been visting RT for a long time and now is when I notice it.

They started doing that not too long ago actually. About half a year ago.

Hmm... so far lower than the 80% range I was expecting at Rottentomatoes, but we'll see. It will probably end up around 70%.

When they actually put up that consensus on the front Critics Page, thats when the score is decided

There was a really good review in 'The Metro' today, a newspaper they give for free to read on the Underground. It said the worst parrt in the film was Maguire, and how annoying he became, they said they sided with Harry in wanting to kill him

Any lower and it may go from Fresh to Rotten, that will be an unspeakable event

Not true. The score can still fluctuate, just not in a very wide range.

Well no, they stop adding reviews and that point, so it's difficult for the score to alter

I cant believe this one didnt get the amazing reception that 1 and 2 got.

I remember when x-men 3 came out i was like "sigh, at least raimi wont screw up spidey 3". Now i havent seen the movie but according to critics and some fans, he did...it feels surreal.

Again, I'm pretty sure that's not entirely true. I've seen films get their consensus rating and still see reviews here and there be added to the score. The consensus doesn't change, but the score may go up or down a few points.

It isn't. I visit RT often and critics are still putting reviews up for many older movies with a movie consenus.

I've come to realize that many people are socially conditioned to like or dislike movies by rottentomatoes.com's reviews.
Used to be, you'd read one review in your local paper and you could agree and/or disagree.
Now with the Tomatometer, they TELL YOU what to think! Yay!

I usually consult rottentomatoes to see which indie flicks I should drop money on, but for an event film (and yes, Spider-Man 3 is an event film) I don't put much stock in the total score.

I'm trying my best to go in as my own reviewer. And guess what? The majority of the reviewers (the toughest crowd to please with a popcorn film) like the movie.

And I'm a cat typing this on a Spider-Man messageboard. If most of us allow ourselves to just go in with an open mind, I suspect most of us will like it, too.

I don't think anyone's ever claimed that whatever the RT final score is will suede they're decision on whether the like/dislike the movie

Just as long as the action scenes deliver, I'm happy.

I think the action is the only aspect we can guarantee greatness

I read one HORRIBLE review that pretty much said this can be compared to Batman and Robin...I was shocked...

I am worried about tomorrow..

The movie will be well-recieved by fans, and it WILL make more money than Pirates...end of story.

Its comments like these that make me ashamed to be a spidey fan or to go an extra step further and annoy the hell out of you people. You treat everything as though its a competition and that spider-man is the be all to end all.:whatever: If you think spidey will make more than pirates then thats fine but its the grounds in which you make such a comment. You say it on the basis of spite and for the record, I realy hope you remember your post because one, NOT all fans have recieved sm3 particularly well and two, when pirates comes out and makes more money, I'll be calling you out, hombre :o
