The CW Passes on Aquaman

If the fan reaction continues, it has a very strong chance of CW execs switching around it's schedule to accomodate it.

I think it deserves a chance but I'm wondering if the budget had anything to do with it as well. I mean there seems to be a lot f/x work within the pilot. But I suppose it would be on par with Smallville's budget.

Pilots are usually a lot more effects heavy that your average episode. If you remember SV's pilot, they had the huge meteor shower, a number of scenes of Clark using speed, strength, etc. The lightning kid, the bridge accident, and truck stacking....
I know the Aquaman pilot cost $7 million to shoot, I'd assume the average episode would be about half that. I remember reading somewhere that the average Smallville episode costs about $2-3 million

Wow I didn't realize how much it cost to shoot one episode!! I guess when you add up the actors and crew salaries....yea it probably makes sense.

Yes!!!! Jblo got my message- this is what they sent back. And I sent this just a couple of hours ago. Their response:

"Thanks, will forward to our news editors..."

So, add one more attained new source spreading the word of AC.

Who's Jblo?? And how do i contact them???

I think that's probably referring to those that write up the editorials.

JoBlo

You've probably heard of the site. It was one of the ones MilkMan mentioned that we should try to contact earlier. Also, already contacted them- since confirmation of passing it on to be put onto the main site came directly from the main guy in charge of the site. Chances are it looks really good that it will get posted.

yep, the trailer looks better then 99% of the crap hollywood/major tvs are peddling..

Great trailer, this really is a shame.

CW obviously did show interest, it had a main page established for the show and everything.

The schedule can easily fit Aquaman in, the CW does not need 'encore' presentations on primetime- no other network does this and the statistics will show this.

Several possibilities all leading to pick-up of Aquaman:
1. Seventh Heaven fails- 60% possibility
2. A new Pilot doesn't do as well as intended- 55% possibility
3. Encore Presentations of a dumb reality show fails- 80% possibility

There's many outcomes that will come from the schedule. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if AM is brought onto the network AND another show that was 'pulled' because of the transition. Because it all looks like CW picked a very fallable schedule. No other primetime network has encores for primetime- repeats are shown from the 10 to 11 bracket & after that. Also, bringing back a show that has run far too many seasons already wasn't a smart move either. I just see many open doors.

Its their highest rated show, they would be idiots if they didnt try to bring it back.

That commercial was pretty cool. Not bad, not bad at all.
But it didn't say anything about being called Mercy Reef it said AQUAMAN at the end, which, imo, is far better.
I'm not so sure i dig the actor in the role, he just didn't convince me, he's just slightly better than the actor who cameod in Smallville.
They could have done better.
But the commercial was strong and impressive. The fx looked pretty cool, and the actors, for the most part, seemed well cast.
Ving Rhames needs to open up and try acting differently, he's always acting the same.
I would like to see this pilot, I hope some network gives it a shot. Or I hope they atleast release it on dvd.

Notice how EASILY it can fall into the schedule and the schedule would be perfect. THAT was actually the original line-up. What changed? Believe whatever you want about 7th Heaven, but in my opinion- it's run it's course.

According to the Washington Post article I quoted in the other thread, Aquaman is still a possibility for a mid-season replacement. So there seems to be some hope for it.

I just cant get behind this show after only watching a 2 minute trailer. I think its insane that you guys are starting this ruckus.

Because the CW didn't even give it a chance to run it's course. It obviously had space open and available. And instead of seeing what happened to it, they put in an unneccesary encore presentation instead. Which is plain ridiculous. The network wants us to treat them seriously, then they should act seriously. No other network has a primetime encore- because of the obvious, it takes up space.

Negative buzz at first. Now the trailer and it's all positive. This happens with EVERY superhero movie almost. Negative buzz, which is spun on a 180 when the trailer premieres. If the CW would have went with it's original plan. Trailer with SR. This would have been a really big Pilot. Every news station reported it as being CW's "flagship" show. Reaction from the trailer was positive and so was reaction from Pilot.

To make a move like this, when the CW obviously could have at least give it a chance to swim shows that the CW wasn't thinking straight when their finalized their schedule. Their ORIGINAL schedule would have looked much like the one I posted above.

Hundreds of pilots are filmed and most of them get passed on. All this positive buzz you cite. Where is it? A select few here, a select few there. Most people wathced it and thought it was a good TRAILER but the SHOW would still suck.

Anyone know what song that is played at the end of the trailer?

Hype from those who SAW the show itself:

One poster stated on here that their marketing firm- I believe- saw the show and really loved it.

Kryptonsite got to see it and he loved it.

Then, don't forget that the Washington Post- that I just looked into is an article from TODAY. Maybe we already hit a nerve? Because now, that article dated today- most recent article. States that Aquaman may actually be swimming into midseason.

So, Darth it's ok if you're against the show- just don't be a troll about it. Nobody likes trolls.

Got as much as I could from the Washington Post.

"compatible because in both shows the hot young chick is dating a guy named Logan. Here's more:The WB's highly hyped new series "Aquaman" is still in contention for midseason. And the WB's "Reba" is still "a possibility" for the CW lineup, Ostroff said,"

WTF?! How am I being a troll? Just because I think its dumb youre working this hard for a show YOU....YOU havent seen. Youre basing this on a 2minute trailer whose sole purpose is to showcase all the good things about the show.

Does K-site have a review of some kind?
