My point is it's all just guess work about a bunch of fictional stuff anyway that tends to get little groups all up in a fuss cos something questions their version of events, all the docs in the world from a certain point of view can debunk most things based of an inherent bias.....but for me it's all just about a good thriller

me too, but like i said, stupid ppl believe in every thing they read.

I think the only thing getting all the thumbs down from this film, even before it has released, is the biggest star himself...Tom Hanks' haircut :( :down

i'm catholic, so yea..

i'm not offended by it at all because its fiction, i'm actually interested in seeing it, as long as the dumb asses who see it know that it's fiction, then it's okay, but in the book the first page states that what you are about to read is true, and people believe that.

so i'll rent it, or see it at the dollar theatre when the hype is dead

The novel is fiction. But Brown claims that the elements that make up the story are true.

Quote: The Da Vinci Code is a novel and therefore a work of fiction. While the book's characters and their actions are obviously not real, the artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals depicted in this novel are true."
Dan Brown

That's why Christians are angered. All of his so-called facts are false. It flies in the face of scholarship.....biblical and extra-biblical.

Italy to Remove 'Da Vinci Code' Ad

The Interior Ministry said Tuesday it would remove a poster promoting "The Da Vinci Code" movie from the scaffolding of a Rome church undergoing renovation after its clergymen complained, officials said Tuesday.

The enormous poster, featuring a picture of Da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" and the title of the upcoming film, has been plastered for a few weeks on the scaffolded facade of the church of St. Pantaleo, which is located just off a major thoroughfare in Rome's historic center.

The Rev. Marco Fibbi, a spokesman for Rome's Vicariate, said the poster was "causing a problem."

"This movie is not reputed to be particularly appreciated by ecclesiastic circles," Fibbi said.

Church officials have spoken out repeatedly against the best-selling novel by Dan Brown and the upcoming film, which stars Tom Hanks and is scheduled for release May 19.

The story contends that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had descendants, and that Opus Dei, a conservative religious organization close to the Vatican, and the Catholic Church were at the center of covering it up.

"It advertises something that is against Christ and against the church," St. Pantaleo's rector, the Rev. Adolfo Garcia Duran, told The Associated Press.

The Interior Ministry, which owns the church and awarded the contract for the renovation to an external company, said the poster would be removed in the next few days. Officials confirmed the Rome Vicariate had sent a letter requesting the poster be taken down.

Plastering posters on scaffolding is a common advertising technique in Rome.

Opus Dei and other church officials have spoken out against the novel, with an Italian cardinal, Tarcisio Bertone, calling for a boycott of the book last year.

Opus Dei, portrayed as a murderous, power-hungry sect in the novel, has described "The Da Vinci Code" as a work of fantasy that offers a deformed image of the Catholic Church.

In a recent homily, the preacher for the papal household, the Rev. Raniero Cantalamessa, denounced theories that make huge profits in denying Catholic teaching about Jesus.

Cantalamessa, a Franciscan priest, did not cite "The Da Vinci Code" by name, but he obviously appeared to refer to it and to the upcoming movie.

"No one succeeds in stopping this speculative wave, that instead will register a boom with the imminent release of a certain film," the preacher said.

Look......with all due respect. Instead of worrying about the Catholic church's image, why not be more concerned with how Jesus is portrayed!
Without Him there would be no church. Also, if Brown's acccusations are true (and they are not) Jesus didn't even die on the cross.

So deal with the core issue. Not the secondary.

Yea, Tom Hanks talked about shooting there in his interview with Dave Letterman.

I'm a Christian and don't believe the book at all due to other historical sources but... I LOVE IT! It's fantastic fiction.

yeah even if you view the book strictly as fiction, its an awesome story...so intricate. i wonder what details are going to be lost in the film though.

Has anybody heard whether or not Hanks and Howard are attached to making Angels & Demons?

I dont think they've even green-lighted the project yet.

I get the sneaking feeling I'm gonna see this movie, and want to cut off my genitalia in total disdain. And what a waste of some fine genitalia that would be. :down

I don't imagine that they'll hesitate to greenlight every Dan Brown book after this movie explodes at the box office.

I concur, I prefer Angels and Demons over the Da vinci Code a tad bit.
