Ok, this is just like the numerous threads I've made about asking one question about a movie.

I was tempted to buy this today. I was torn between this, Cars, and King Kong (extended cut). I went along and bought King Kong, even though I really did want to buy Cars. Da Vinci Code lost some of my interest because I wasn't too sure on if it was good or not.

Is The Da Vinci Code good enough so that I should buy the DVD, rent the DVD, or just never watch it?

Well Warhammer I can tell you this. I can see why some people just didn't like it. I mean it is definitely a deep thinking movie you have to follow closely to fully understand. Which I guess helps it in the rewatchability department because if there isn't something you got the first time you could follow it better with another viewing. I liked it and think it just a got a bad and ridiculous rap because of the religious stuff. If your into the whole exploring history, religion, or theories about the past it is definitely worth watching. It is a MOVIE and it is FICTION. My opinion it is worth at least a rent.

Cool.
I love movies that make me think.

I loved it, it's a fun movie.
However, you Yanks only get the theatrical cut.
I'd wait a bit to get the extended cut, or import it.

I loved it, but I will tell you most of my friends did not like it, they thought it was very long and some even said it was boring. I would recommend a rental to decide if you like it or not.

A deep thinking movie? Oh please. :whatever:

If there is an extended cut, then I'll wait on this b**** like I did King Kong.

Yeah people like something you don't...shocker.

You misinterpreted, not surprisingly. I enjoy a movie that requires me to follow along with the story and to "think deeply", but DVC is just not that. They lay everything out for you step by step, so that even *GASP* a child could follow it. (I wonder if that's because they were aiming at the family audience? Oh my!)

And I disagree. It is that simple. It is all a matter of opinion. Suprisingly...you don't get that. And they were aiming at a family audience? Yeah I think they made that clear when they pretty started the movie with a naked man whipping himself and drawing blood from his own leg painfully.

Yeah, here in Mexico (R4) we got that, and the 2nd. disc has the same special features you guys got.
I think Japan has that cut too, and one of the dvd sets has some really nice gadgets

I'm just saying that if you had to think deeply to follow the movie, then I feel sorry for you. And DVC was far from a hard PG13, so yes, it was aimed at families. Especially if you paid attention to the advertising.

Thank you for your pity now go play with a gun. Now moving on...

I don't just get dismissed, kid. It's ok though, you haven't been around here very long, so you don't know me. I'll let it slide.

The movie is worse than the book, something I really didn't think was possible. Waste money on it if you want, though.

I joined only a month after you did. :cwink: And you talking down to people because they like movies that you don't I am glad I don't know you well.

I joined when it was still just Spider-Man Hype about 5 years ago.

I'd say just buy the book. You can get the paperback for $6 now and it's way better than the movie.

So what did you get get banned and have to make a new name? And I have been here over 2 years myself and post here frequently but I find that doesn't even really matter. I hate that attitude that don't value someone elses opinions or thoughts just because "they haven't put in as much time as me". Give me a break. Just because you have been here longer doesn't give you the right to act like a snooty and superior *******. But I hate arguing and getting sucked into arguments and fighting so can we just let this go and start with a clean slate?

I was a mod. I got into an argument with an admin, he snapped and banned me. At the time I had something like 35,000 posts. I don't like arguing, but I also don't like being dismissed offhand. So yea, we can clean the slate.

I think Da Vinci Code is worth a rental but not a buy. Its not nearly as bad as many critics made it out to be, but it is pretty much throw away entertainment.
