I ran across one of these film companies on the internet called "Asylum Productions", all they make is completely, but legal, ripoffs. It's absolutely pathetic. Here's a few of the films they've made.

www.theasylum.cc

King of The World- film about a giant gorilla, released same day on DVD as King Kong

The Da Vinci Treasure- garbage released 4 days after The Da Vinci Code

Hillside Cannibals- Hills have eyes anyone?

Snakes on a Train- released 3 days before SoaP, nothing else needs to be said

Pirates of The Treasure Island- Now this is laughable and pathetic

Oh but look at their newest release:

TRANSMORPHERS

All of a sudden, Uwe Boll doesn't seem that bad.

If people are stupid enough to buy or rent those because they think its tied to the real movie, they deserve to lose their money.

Or what about Wedding Thrashers?

That 'Transmorphers' trailer was kinda cool, in a cheap, chessy way :p Lmao!

I've seen Snakes On a Train at Hollywood video

Just watched the Transmorphers trailer.

F***in' awesome. It's like a Bay film with CGI done by Abaddon's boobies.

Who could forget the classic "When a Killer Calls"?
Couldn't be any worse than a stranger calls. Man that was horrible I can't see how any movie even a rip off like when a killer calls be worse.

yea they sell these at blockbuster (i wish they shouldnt) and i bought war of the worlds and its sucked so bad!!! but it was like 4 dollars

i would have hated to have been those actors!

The da Vinci treasure and Pirates of the treasure island both have the same actor in it

Well.... the CG is actually pretty decent for a cheap DTV cash in.

the CGI is horrible, and is that world trade center ruins in the back ground!?!

If I *remember* correctly, it's overseas investors that want these low budget knockoffs from this company.

TF: You've mentioned that Snakes on a Train all came about because of the investors, which is also how the giant snake aspect of the film ended up being included. Any insight as to how they go about deciding which big Hollywood theatrical films they're going to produce "mockbusters" of?

EF: I'm not part of that decision-making process, but I imagine that it's all about the buyer. The Asylum is a small company in a world of huge companies that outbid everybody and crush the competition with their big wallets. The Asylum has found a way to get the buyer to pay for more DVDs so they can keep making indie features. If a big film is coming out and The Asylum can make a movie of similar genre and theme and the buyer likes the title, then they are in business. Then maybe they will call me!

How much do these movies cost to make, seriously? Like, $1000? Or is it even less? Do they even sell 1000 copies of these crap fests?

i'm amazed they can actually gather enough people to do these crappy movies. they probably have "must have no dignity" as a requirement to work for them...

With the exception of the crappy CG, Transmorphers looks exactly the same as Transformers.

Well, they must make money, because they keep making them.

But I agree, these guys are terrible. Never saw these movies, but direct to DVD movies all suck anyway.

That's not always the case, you can every now and then get good one. More like 95% of all DTDVD movies suck.

I was pissed when I saw Snakes on a Train, I was tempted to snap that disk in half, right in front of everyone.
