The Dark Knight Rises as a remake of Rocky III

TDKR is entertaining if you turn your brain off, it's only when you try to think about whether it makes logical sense. Still, it's about redemption and letting go,
it was the end of a story. Rocky III is kind of the middle.

Yeah, they have some similar story points (particularly the hero's fall and rise) but where they really diverge is the end.

As such, I don't really think it's fair to say that TDKR is a remake of Rocky III.

Not sure who I prefer Mr T as Clubber Lang or Tom Hardy's Bane. Probably Mr T, as he had more swagger and I could understand everything he said.

Go for it. >>>>>>>>>>>> No. I came back to stop you.

That is all.

Almost everything is a remake or a rip off of something.

Except for me being able to relate more to Bruce's depression, yes.

Love that trailer mashup and all the fun parallels between the movies.

And man, the cinematography of Rises is so friggin' gorgeous.

I've tried really hard to repress the memory of Rocky III. Thank you for reminding me that it exists.

Personally I love TDKR, probably more than TDK. Haven't seen Rocky III in like.... forever. Was always more of a Rocky IV fan. That's the Batman movie we need. We could use KGBeast, right?

Rumor has it KGBeast may appear in BvS, though they might not actually refer to him as KGBeast, since the KGB isn't around anymore.

Perhaps NKVDemon? No wait, the NKVD ain't around either. Well I'm sure Putin has some form of secret police with a name. If not I am going to be greatly disappointed.

The best scene from either of these movies goes to Rocky III:

Reporter: "What's your prediction for the fight?"

Clubber Lang: "Prediction?"

Reporter: "Yes, your prediction."

Clubber Lang: "PAIN."

So the Dark Knight Rises needs to be a Rocky 3 remake to seen better? I wish I could do the same to "The Dark Knight" with Stallone's "Nighthawks" film.

I´ve yet to watch a SH movie that makes "logical sense". But among them, TDKR is actually above the average, as a film. To me at least, only TDK beats it. Everything else is weak sauce.

People criticize TDKR on the basis that Bruce Wayne was able to get back into Gotham -- I'm serious.

Really? People do that? LOOOOOOOOOL.I guess i would criticize TDKR if he wasn´t able to do that. That wouldn´t be the Batman i´ve been reading for 20 years.

The prologue was the only good thing.

There's actually a lot I like about TDKR, particularly the first half. But the movie definitely has issues. Once Blake arrests Selina, I think the film really drops off. I feel like they built up the situation in Gotham too much at the detriment of the film's strengths, namely Bruce and Selina.

Miranda was an almost complete waste of a great actress.

Nolan's Catwoman wasn't also the best character he's ever written, she could've been anybody.

The Dark Knight Rises is far better than anyone is currently willing to give it credit for...for the time being. I honestly feel like a lot of fans just have this cold attitude towards the movie because it didn't give them exactly what they were hoping for. And when I say that, I'm not talking about people who have some issues with it, I'm talking about those who refuse to acknowledge any of its obvious strengths. But no matter what flaws you choose to focus on, after every re-watch I find myself feeling that the film is about as satisfying a conclusion to the trilogy as you could possibly get, and an even better emotional sendoff to the character than I would've expected. As an individual film it might not stand alone quite as well as the other two, but the other two didn't have to bear the weight of tying up the loose plot and thematic threads of two other films. It's my favorite "third" movie of all-time, and I honestly wouldn't change a thing about it. Not even Talia's death scene. I love it, warts and all. It belongs in that trilogy.

Part of the danger of being the third film in a franchise is that expectations raise (and change- re: Marvel's success) while at the same time the audience becomes more jaded and harder to impress. TDKR tackled that loathsome "third movie curse" straight-on, and I think it fought it off pretty admirably for the most part. Far better than most. Especially considering it had to do so without The Joker, the main factor that made the second film the pop culture sensation it was. It just focused on finishing the story that was started in BB.

Long live TDKR.

TDKR is still better than most CBM's,even if it is the weakest in the Nolan trilogy.
